Okay So I Got Rednote Because I Heard About The Whole Migration Thing And I Never Bothered To Sign Up

Whoa, is this an autism thing? Because yeah I do this constantly

(I'm not sure if I'm autistic, it's something I'm exploring)

Here’s a weird autism thing that I realized this morning—

-If a choir director tells my section to sing louder, I will do so, even if I am already at fortissimo.

-If a teacher criticizes my class for failing to take their work seriously, I will feel guilty, even if I’ve been turning every single assignment in on time.

-If a post calls people in general out for not doing a particular thing and says it’s their fault if a tragedy happens, I will feel stressed, even if I was already relentlessly doing the thing.

I need to be told separately about my personal progress, otherwise I will overcompensate and eventually end up burning myself out. As someone who puts conscious effort in trying to understand social cues, this really messes me up for some reason.

I slow blink at people all the time. My roommate's dog has come to understand what it means and now sometimes does it back to me. So I guess I accidentally taught a dog how to speak cat, or one word of it anyway.

I haven't meowed at anyone, but I have reflexively hissed at people. Also, during the years when I was living with just my cat, and not getting a huge amount of interaction with other humans, I would occasionally slow blink at people instead of smiling 😻

I still slow blink at people to indicate friendliness and I no longer have an excuse.

It’s never been negatively received but on some occasions cat savvy people have paused before demanding, “Did you just slow blink at me??”

Love the argument "oh but if you transition you'll have to deal with being trans your whole life" because first of all there is nothing bad about being trans and second I'm still gonna be trans even if I don't medically transition I'll just be trans and miserable instead of trans and happy

I loved everything about this scene. Because Cath is just all the way out there saying out loud that she wants other people to be turned on by her wife. When Eddie says "I don't want to muff-dive your wife," Cath gets so offended.

And I love that Dulcie's first desperate, mortified reaction is to stuff as much food into her face as possible

I think we need to appreciate this part of Brennan Lee Mulligan's WIRED interview a lot more:

I specifically love it when Eddie takes a figure of speech and turns it into something weirdly sexual. So "it's curtains for you" becomes "it's beef curtains for you," and "you're like a dog with a bone" becomes "you're like a dog with a boner." There are a bunch of them sprinkled throughout the series and I love MS's delivery, I love that it's not clear whether this is something Eddie's always doing on purpose or if once in a while some of it might be unintentional. I have spent so much time thinking about how Eddie talks and why, because sometimes they seem to be intentionally doing a bit, but other times ("colloborate," "Duleese") I don't think they are. I have a whole headcanon that they don't subvocalize so they don't automatically practice the sounds of words while reading/thinking, and also they have a mild auditory processing disorder. Those two things combined mean that sometimes their way of saying a word or a turn of phrase wanders off from consensus reality. I think they realized very young that they had some kind of struggle around this, and at some point as an older kid or a teenager they decided -- as with many things about themself -- to lean into it harder and make it weirder than it naturally was, to turn it into a gag so that people would just assume it was deliberate.
