The contrast between the way Mulder and Scully act whenever they have to rescue the other one from something is amazing.

Because Scully immediately goes into hyper-competent mode. Like she has A PLAN and she is going to do the plan and to hell with anyone who is going to stop her. Everything by the book about her goes away and she’s just like nope we are doing everything this way if you get in my way I will end you. I am very worried but I refuse to let my emotions influence my plan unless I am using them to scare the shit out of bad guys. I am short and full of rage and I am the only person with the smarts to pull this off. Do not stop me.

And then Mulder just like…descends into pure chaos. He will either snap and nearly kill someone or he will descend into a puddle of tears on the floor. There is very little in between. He has not slept in a week. He has not had a coherent thought beyond the need to save her. There is no plan just him racing blindly into the darkness because there is nothing in him beyond the need to get her back. And yes to hell with everyone who tries to stop him but in a way that’s tinged with so much grief and unpredictability that’s it’s just as terrifying to us as it is to the people around him.

Idk I just like the contrast.

(Also this is as of S2E6 so no spoilers please!)

Wow! I just finished the last episode of the hit tv series the xfiles to ever air, i just finished s8e21 existence from the tv show the x files comprised of 8 season and 1 movie! Such a happy ending!

arcadia but they had a drunk ons (before being assigned the case/knowing about it) that they silently agreed NOT to talk about and now they're stuck playing house in the suburbs for an indeterminable amount of time. scully can't look at mulder for longer than five seconds without feeling enough emotions to kill an elephant and mulder can't not look at her or he will spontaneously combust. there was only one bed and mulder can't sleep on the couch lest the neighbours start talking.

and since i am not a coward like cc, said amount of time would be a month minimum. more like two. or three.

depends on how emotionally repressed they want to be but either way i'd make them suffer and eventually force them to talk about their ✨emotions✨

I think everyone has their “this should’ve been the canonically get-together” episode, mine is Detour.

Its right after cancer arc and I don’t think they would’ve gotten together during is because there was to much of a possibility for Mulder that she would be ripped away from him and it would feel too much to Scully like he was only with her out of guilt or pity because she was sick. But in detour they’ve both already realized what they are to each other, they have all these cute moments and god the motel room scene and the scene at night in the woods- don’t even get me started!

Anyway drop your “get together episode”

I feel like i should clarify that canon would be different after this, like they definitely weren’t together yet in ftf, but if they got together in detour it would be different, y’know?
