Kotori is an important NPC for KWKO storyline! She is not a part of any unit, however. She's not talked about on the main account aside from subtle hints (you can find them if you look close enough) because she's unfortunately a walking talking spoiler and technically doesn't even have (present time) lines until post main story, which is breaking my heart because it'll take a while to get to, and I love her!

Hoc is currently the only person who knows about her because I bother them with KWKO info dumps on the daily, and even they don't half the stuff going on with her. And I'm holding back ever so tightly to not spoil everything, honestly.

"Arata is an Akito foil and Souma is a Touya foil" loud incorrect buzzer!! Both Arata and Souma are Touya's foils in different aspects. Arata represents Touya's worries about being "half-hearted" and doing something on his partner's behalf and not because he himself wants to, something that Touya has largely left behind since the Main Story but still weights on him (it influences his overall behaviour of taking too much of the responsibility for VBS on himself in The First Concerto because he feels like he "owes" it to their feelings while disregarding his own; his father is not the only factor here). Souma represents the part of Touya that feels lacking and inadequate compared to his teammates. This is why they're such a big deal for his writing; both of them are important, and both Souma and Arata are foils to both Akito and Touya. (And also, partially to An, but possibility that isn't explored in canon yet and I doubt they will)
What messes me up is the only reason taiga said that bs to arata was because that’s what he’s like!!! Nagi told him her last wishes!!! She told him that she doesn’t want him to become the best musician in the world for her, that she wants to inspire the next generation. Ken understood that and stayed true to her wishes, but taiga is selfish!!! He is too damn selfish and egotistical to share his dream with anyone, even his best friend’s daughter! he’s too busy thinking about how much he wants to be the best, so he discards her final wishes and says, ‘I’m doing this for me,’ and then he BULLIES A BUNCH OF KIDS FOR NO REASON. No, Taiga! You’re wrong! Arata isn’t doing this for himself. But you ARE!

What's your opinion on MizuToya?
I’m a huge multishipper so that one is actually on my list! They’re already some of my favorite characters, plus I think they’re super cute and I already love their dynamic romantic or otherwise. Also it would be super awkward for akito which I think is hilarious. I imagine under mizuki’s influence, Toya would learn to loosen up a little and explore his identity beyond what his family wants for him, and I think with Toya, Mizuki would find a lot of warmth and care, and probably start coming to school more arvjesgkrh

NO BECAUSE SOUMA IS GENUINELY ONE OF MY FAVORITES EVER. Like even more than many of the MAIN CHARACTERS 😭😭😭 no look I need to yap about this—
I saw someone on Reddit say that he was a “worse saki” and I’m just like…. How… could you be so wrong???? I was so happy about how much souma content we got in walk on and on because his dynamic with Toya was really sweet and his character is so compelling!!! Are you kidding me?? A kid who was so passionate about music, who’d practice with his best friend until he hurt his voice to chase after something he really loved— his love for music brought him and arata together— just for that suddenly to be taken away from him with no warning or reason or explanation! And he is left to pick up the pieces. Trying to be strong for his family and for his best friend, trying to keep smiling and carrying on. But deep inside, he’s afraid that without his ability to sing, he won’t be able to keep up with arata anymore. That he can’t contribute to their team or their passion, that he can’t even write a song without his partner. He waits in the hospital and listens to arata tell him about the new friends he’s making, the steps he’s taking to get closer to what used to be their dream, and he keeps smiling. Keeps encouraging his friend to chase his dream— because it’s only his dream now, right?— keeps complimenting and showing genuine admiration for the new friends he’s making— even if it feels like he’s being replaced— keeps telling him not to worry. But you always see this quiet sadness evident in every word. This somber defeat in the way he talks about his dream and his friendship and Gurney Flap. There is so much to be explored in Souma. Genuinely I think he is one of the strongest, sweetest, and most amazing characters in the game and he and Toya have so much to learn from each other and I want MORE Souma!! Npcs don’t need to exist to play their part and then get out of the way, I love hearing about their aspirations and their personalities and their lives!! Complex side characters make for a better story!
