sooo... nonchalant - ITAFUSHI (part 1)

notes: literally everybody knows that megumi fushiguro has big, gay crush on yuji itadori. everybody knows. and megumi thought he was hiding it so well. LOL. this is kinda like coffee shop au, but not. just trust me guys. also university au! word ct: 1.5k

"please? i really need the hours and we're always packed on saturdays. just let me come in. i can come in late so labor won't be too high or whatever. like 9pm. just please." megumi was about ten second away from getting on his knees. his manager just stared at him, confused and exhausted.

"fushiguro... why do you want to work saturday night so bad?" his manager asked.

the manager knew why. hell, everybody in that damn gym knew why megumi fushiguro wanted to work saturday night.

"because..." megumi blushed, looking away. "because my roommate is having his girlfriend over and i don't wanna be home then..."

LIE!

it was because megumi fushiguro knows that on saturdays at 10pm, yuji itadori comes to the university gym for upper body day. and at 10:45pm, yuji itadori walks over to the university gyms smoothie bar and orders a 20oz strawberry banana smoothie with a scoop of protein powder and a handful of spinach. and then he sits down on the stools at the bar and scrolls through his phone for approximately 15 minutes before taking out the keys to his red 2019 bmw and going home.

"that's the only reason..." megumi gulped, avoiding the intense and all-knowing eye contact from his manager.

the manager rolled his eyes. "fine, whatever. just don't creep out the customers."

megumi sighed. "i'm not creepy. i'm normal... and chill."

he's not chill. he's totally crazy about this guy.

hair, styled. skin, moisturized. nails, manicured. teeth, whitened. it was finally saturday night and megumi was ready to see yuji itadori for work.

he walked up to the gym entrance, tucking his keys in his pocket and smoothing his unruly hair down as much as possible (it isn't possible). he walked behind the counter, clocked in, washed his hands and then made his way to the register. he looked up and had to hold in a scream. there stood yuji itadori. he was wearing sweat pants and a muscle shirt, that fit just right. hot! and it was... 9:32pm!?! he's totally early for his workout!

"what are you doing here?" megumi yelped. creepy! "i mean, what... can i get for you?"

"i'm just here to workout." yuji smiled at the boy. "but i think i'll just get a strawberry banana smoothie with... a scoop of protein powder and some spinach, please."

"sure, thing. just a 20oz?" megumi asked, already knowing the answer.

"yea, thanks." with that, yuji paid and then walked over to the waiting area. megumi made his smoothie quickly, thinking about that god-awful interaction and trying to decipher why yuji was ordering his smoothie over an hour early. and, god! he thought he looked hot after his workout, but seeing him before?! his shoulders were broad and his biceps were just perfect. and his hair was messy but not as messy as it usually was. and he smelled... so good. almost like strawberries-

"oh shit." megumi had overblended the smoothie. quickly, he dumped out the liquidy smoothie and remade it. paying closer attention this time.

"i’ve got a 20oz strawberry banana smoothie." megumi called out. yuji glanced up from his phone and made his way to the counter. megumi held out the smoothie and a straw, a small smile on his face.

"thanks, man." yuji took a sip after sticking the straw in. then he said, "you were expecting me a little later, huh?"

megumi's heart fell into his stomach. 'shit! he's onto me! he knows i know his workout schedule! i'm totally creepy... i need to quit this job and move to a different school. what is wrong with me-'

"uh.." megumi chuckled awkwardly and glanced around, trying to play it cool. "what, uh... what are you talking about?"

yuji slurped up his smoothie. "i usually show up to get this smoothie at like 10:45. but it's barely even 9:40. i'm early."

"oh..." megumi shifted. "i don't really pay attention to stuff like that. i mean, i see a lot of customers so it's hard for me to memorize that sort of thing." he lied like a rug.

"i see." yuji smirked. "well, i'm gonna go get these gains."

megumi nodded, watching him walk away. “oh, all the bicep curl machines are out of commission, by the way. some dude tore them up the other day…”

yuji stopped walking. 'oh no' megumi thought 'i eluded to the fact that he's working out arms today. if i have sooo many customers then why would i know he's working out arms?! god, my manager was right! i'm creepy! i can still drop out of university, i just need to talk to gojo first. he'll help me run away. where should i go... the other side of the country? no, that's not far enough. maybe i'll move the australia-'

"huh… thanks for the heads up. and i'll be back. i wanted to talk to you after my workout." yuji walked away. megumi was freaked way out.

yuji was totally gonna tell him off for being a borderline stalker, and that's totally fair! he needed to leave and fast. he spun around toward his manager's office only to come face to face with said manager.

"hey." megumi gulped. "can i..."

"yes, fushiguro. just go home." he sighed.

after being there for maybe 20 minutes, megumi clocked out and ran to his car.

yuj itadori was covered in sweat. he wanted nothing more than to go home a shower and go to bed. but he had to do this first. he needed to ask out megumi fushiguro.

now, yuji felt pretty confident about asking him out. it was obvious that megumi had a gym crush on him. the way he blushed and stumbled over his words and glanced at his body before making eye contact. it was all so cute. but he wanted to get to know megumi, for real. not the cool, nonchalant front he tried so hard (and failed) to put on. yuji was excited. he walked up to the counter with a big grin on his face.

"hi, what can i get for you?" megumi's manager asked.

"oh... uh, nothing. i thought someone else was working today..."

did megumi not like yuji after all? why would he run away after he said he wanted to talk to him? 'shit, i freaked him out...' yuji couldn't hide the frown on his face.

"expecting the black haired kid?" the manager said.

yuji looked up with big eyes. he nodded quickly.

"god... you two boys. you're stressing every employee at this gym out!"

"what? what do you mean?" yuji yelped, confused and dissapointed. "what did we do?"

"nothing! that's the problem."

with that, yuji gave up. he walked out of the gym with his head hung low. he'll just have to do it another day. if he ever sees him again. he didn't know what to do... he had to phone a friend. someone older, with experience with this kinda thing (the gay dating experience).

"hey, gojo!"

"hey yuji. what's up... it's been a minute!"

"yea... sorry about that. to be honest, i need some advice- if you've got time."

"yea, sure. i'm on my way to my younger brothers house but it's gonna be a minute. talk to me, kid."

yuji spent the next half hour babbling on about megumi, without mentioning his name. he talked about their interactions and how he always thought they were mutually flirting but when he went to ask him out, he got freaked out and fled the scene. now, gojo wasn't the smartest man on the planet but he was starting to put two and two together.

"so... what's this guy look like, anyway?"

"is that important?" yuji sighed.

"not necessarily. just curious about your type, is all." liar. he was just trying to confirm if it was megumi or not.

"well, if you must know- he's tall with dark eyes and dark hair."

that was all gojo needed. he chuckled to himself.

"we have similar taste then..." he paused. "well, it sounds like, to me, that the kid doesn't have a clue how you feel. he probably isn't great at figuring that kinda thing out."

"what makes you so sure?"

"just making assumptions." gojo slowly pulled into the driveway of megumi's apartment. "well, i'm at my brothers house. but text me. let me know if you need any more advice."

"thanks gojo. you sure know your stuff." yuji ended the call.

'yea, you have no idea, kid.' gojo chuckled to himself as he walked up to the topic of conversation's door step. he knocked softly. megumi answered almost immediately. he looked like he'd been hit by a bus.

"hey megumi." gojo smiled at the boy. "boy trouble?"

megumi blinked in confusion. "how'd you know?"

gojo sighed loudly. "how could i not?"

ITAFUSHI - slow mornings ੈ♡˳

read this first, if u haven't already. (part of a series)

notes: itafushi roomies au! they're both in university. also no powers or curses bc i choose happiness. word ct: 1.1k content warnings: major pining, yay.

'beep! beep! beep!'

megumi grunted, rolling over and blindly fumbling around for his phone. once he got his hands on it, he finally opened his sleepy eyes and turned off his alarm. tears pricked the corners of his eyes as he let out a soft yawn. it was cold. he wrapped his blanket around him, put on his house shoes and made his way to the living room.

there, in their respective crates, were his two best friends. kuro and shiro. his black and white dogs he's had since childhood. they greeted him with whiny yawns and biiiig stretches. he let them out of there crates and they wagged their tales, rubbing up against megumi's legs, ready to be fed and walked. megumi slowly walked towards the front door, still half asleep, where he grabbed their leashes and put on outdoor shoes. he hooked the dogs up to their leashes and made his way outside.

meanwhile, yuji was awoken by the sound of the front door shutting, since his room is right next to the entrance. with a yawn, he takes that as a cue to start his day. he slips on a hoodie and a pair of socks and makes his way to the kitchen. he fills the kettle with water and then turns the fire on under it. then, he pulls out their tea drawer and begins to thumb through the flavors. for himself, he chooses peppermint tea. and for megumi, he chooses caramel chai. he vaguely remembered megumi saying he liked it a few weeks prior. he picked out two mugs; a red one for himself and a black one for megumi. another yawn escaped him as he poured the boiling water into their mugs and then placed the tea bags in to steep.

just then, megumi and his dogs walk through the door. kuro and shiro rush in the greet yuji and he kneels down to pet them, saying 'hi' in a baby voice. megumi smiles internally while putting up their leashes and removing his shoes.

"good morning, megumi." yuji grins, speaking softly.

megumi looks up from feeding the dogs. "good morning." after feeding them, he goes to the sink and washes his hands. "do we still have apples?"

"yea, we should."

megumi nodded, opening the fridge. there was one apple and a couple cartons of different berries. he grabs a small knife and begins chopping up the fruit after washing it. as he was chopping, he shivered. yuji glances over at him and immediately goes to the couch where their throw blankets are. he picks one up, comes up behind megumi and places it softly over his shoulders. megumi can't hide the flush that takes over his face at yuji's sweet gesture.

"oh, thanks." he says simply, not facing yuji, lest he see his pink face.

yuji just hums, scrolling through his phone. megumi finishes cutting up their fruit. he plates it, just as yuji pulls out their tea bags. megumi hands him a plate of apple slices and yuji hands him a cup of caramel chai. they both walk over to their couches. kuro and shiro were taking up the smaller couch that yuji usually sits at, so he just takes a seat next to megumi on the bigger couch. after chomping into an apple slice, he grabs the remote and starts flicking though channels.

"in the mood for anything?" yuji asks, glancing over at megumi who was already looking at him. megumi looks away quickly, reaching for his phone.

"uh, no. i gotta get ready for class right after i eat anyway."

yuji nods and turns on some random cartoon. megumi scrolled through several different social media apps on his phone. they sat in silence, (aside from the tv) enjoying each others company. yuji reached over to grab his mug and when he did, his thigh pressed against megumi's. he didn't move it. he left it there, partially because he liked that physical connection and partially to see if megumi would move. megumi didn't move his leg either. with a shade of pink dusted over his face, he leaned back into the couch, only a couple inches from yuji. they sat like that for a while, both warm from each others body heat and warm from how close they were to each other. they were both flustered but neither of them did anything to escape the feeling, because being that close to one another felt better.

at the same time, megumi's dogs hopped from their own couch onto the other one. each dog sat on the other side of one of the boys, squishing them closer together. they were shoulder to shoulder, hip to hip, thigh to thigh. they both grunted, their faces each flushing bright pink.

"shiro, kuro, don't jump on people like that." megumi huffed, then he turned his head to face yuji. so close! their faces were just inches apart. they stared at each other with wide eyes. megumi's eyes flickered down to yuji's lips then back to his eyes. "sorry about the dogs. i guess they got lonely over there."

yuji stared at megumi's soft features. "it's okay." he said, so softly it was almost a whisper. "they might've just been cold. it is pretty warm over here."

megumi and yuji both felt their hearts beating out of their chests, keeping the eyes locked on the other one's face.

"yea... it is... warm." megumi mumbled, eyeing yuji's lips a second time. yuji noticed, taking a moment to do the same.

"i wanna kiss him so bad!" they both thought to themselves.

'beep! beep! beep!'

megumi's phone rung out, snapping the boys out their trance.

"oh... shit. i gotta go get ready for class." he scrambled up, starting to make his way to his room.

"okay." yuji said, sitting upright. "oh! um... i have a practice match tonight. did you wanna come watch?"

megumi stopped in front of his door. "yea, sure. i'll be there."

and with that he went into his room. and yuji stayed sitting on the couch. the two boys rubbed their hands over their faces, replaying what just happened. for the next ten or so minutes, they both daydreamed about kissing each other. by the time megumi was ready for class, he was a flustered mess. and so was yuji. megumi grabbed his coat and started to rush out the door.

"i'll see you tonight!" he called out, slinging his school bag over his shoulder.

"okay! have a good day, megumi!" yuji called out, cuddling with kuro and shiro.

megumi smiled, cracking the door open. "thank you, yuji." then he left for school.

'i have got to kiss him!' they both thought to themselves.
