It was Liùsaidh’s turn to be vulnerable with her crush this evening. Of course, my brain didn’t think about it until after the verbal rp, but I shared the concept with Pookie (hi buddy) and based on their thoughts I ended up sharing them with our DM. Twas well-received and our crush was very receptive to Liù sharing her fears entangled with the upcoming missions. Also… he cupped her face and gave her a kiss on the forehead 🥺 Which I think for their relationship (however it ends up) is more fitting than going straight to bed (no shame, she has done that before LMAO). Later, when they got into combat, Liù casted “Guardian of Faith” and DM took the opportunity to describe the guardian as looking “eerily like [crush]”. Big fan, BIG FAN of all this.

i want to shake many young women and say you can grow in private. and what i mean by that is that you don’t have to publicly self-flagellate when you don’t know something or when you say something a little insensitive or whatever else. you don’t have to report your Bad Thoughts and Ignorance to the crowd who waits to judge you. you do not have to pay penance. you do not have to issue public statements. nothing more is gained from burying yourself in shame than you could gain by thinking “oh i don’t know about this” and looking it up real quick, or thinking “hm, that wasn’t how i want to behave, i’ll do different next time” and then moving on with your life. no need to choke yourself with it.

You know, I always say things like “I hate people” but I try to have some empathy and to retain some optimism, but today is one of those days where my empathy and optimism have betrayed me

(though interestingly he considered his most important work the Slav Cycle, twenty massive paintings—i’m talking dimensions from thirteen to twenty six feet—that i have to mention because i had the pleasure of actually seeing a couple in person)

J. C. Leyendecker - couple descending staircase and couple dancing are frequently used reference images and rightfully so, he has a more grounded style than mucha but it’s still rich with detail

Erté - lots of stylization but leaning towards 1920s aesthetics and bolder colors and contrasts
