I'm a white Puerto Rican!

I do not know the hate my fellow brothers and sisters go through because of the COLOR OF THEIR SKIN nor will I ever....but I do know the Hispanic and black stereotype that have been put on us. We, not all, but some choose to embody those stereotypes to the fullest. I understand the injustice on why we can’t fight back like the white man and woman can. There will always be injustice when it comes to the fight because they fear the fact they can no longer hold us down! We have fought to become Doctors, Lawyers, Scientists, Engineers,and Teachers and we have become WARRIORS that are no longer seen as nothing more then athletes,druglords ,rappers ,

and rapists. I know some live up to the stereotypes but for far to long we have been feared so we end up giving up and become everything you say we are, under-minding our brother and sisters before us that fought to become more. We end up spoiling the Community and the mind of the youth. We become angry when you use our cultures as your own or make them in to holiday’s because for use black history month is more then fried chicken and kool aid. Hispanic and latino heritage month isn’t about cutting grass and drinking coronas! We are about the people that came before us and wanted to make a difference by showing the world we are so much more! For them I am grateful!
