Hisoka: The Abilities outside Nen

Here's a rant from someone who's been a HxH fan since they were 10 (I'm 20 now)

Hisoka is one of my favourite characters if not my favourite villains next to Illumi. He immediately had my attention when I first saw him. I really saw him as a force of nature, and I loved how unpredictable he was. There would be moments where he came off as a psychotic killer, but also times where he seemed pretty chill. I could never quite figure out what was going through his mind.

These days I think the fandom, which is now filled with Gen Z-ers, have kind of turned him into a bit of a joke (not in a bad way), but I still remember him as the man who held a lot of mystery behind him.

Now there's just one thing I always wondered about him, and that was his abilities. We already know about Bungee Gum, and the fact that it has the properties of both rubber and gum, but I'm talking about before Togashi introduced nen to us.

We know that Hisoka is a magician, but are the abilities the result of bungee gum, or was he truly trained in some kind of trick? Does he have abilities outside of nen? One example I will use is the Zoldyck family. They are super humans, and have abilities outside of nen, like Killua's long nails and being immune to poison. Then there's the Freecss family. Even without nen, Gon was still a pretty damn strong kid, he broke Illumi's arm for crying out loud (I don't think that's spoken about enough). So we the viewers know that there's a handful of superhuman families, so it wouldn't be any surprise if Hisoka himself came from one.

We could say that it's just the 2011 version being creative, but the 1999 version has fun as well. In fact, I'll compare the two.

2011: When we are first introduced to him he burns off a guy's arm for bumping into him. His arms have turned into tiny petals. When Hisoka and Gon officially meet, he disappears into dust every time Gon tries to hit him. Usually, Nen users would blur when they move very fast. Hisoka has a bloodlust moment, and one butterfly becomes hundreds. When he takes the tag from Gon (after he punched him) he makes 4 copies of the tags.

1999: The guy seems to have melted into a wall instead of his arms being burned. Then there's his fight with the knife guy (ep 15, 1999), nothing too special, but it's what happens afterwards. In the 2011 version Hisoka still has the injury on his shoulder, but in the 1999 version he does a trick to make it disappear/heal instantly (most likely an illusion). The butterfly thing doesn't happen.

Not to mention Hisoka's bloodlust. Much like Illumi's, it gives a sense of unease to anyone who is of close proximity to it. Even going as far as to disturb nature. Hisoka is superhuman, even without the use of nen. Unfortunately, we don't see more of his 'magic' in the anime.

Poor Sharon

I really love the Static Shock cartoon, and I love Virgil's character so much. There's just one thing about the show that I hate, because it makes me extremely uncomfortable. It's Virgil's relationship with his sister. I understand that siblings bicker, but they do it too often, and there's also the way he talks to her.

To be fair, when I was in my teens I didn't have a stable relationship with my siblings. There were a lot of things going on at home, and our personalities would clash. Now that I'm older, and nothing terrible is happening at home, we're at a much better spot. I don't know if it's maturing, but he's said a lot of things that rubbed me the wrong way, and ruin his character regarding Sharon, his sister.

He said that he should buy a muzzle for her birthday, pretty much comparing her to an animal. He told Adam (para-thrasing), "I like your playstation, and you like my sister. I'm sure we can work something out." Making her out to be property. After he saved Sharon from being kidnapped he seemed more upset about her vehicle being destroyed (because it was going to be his next) than her safety.

These two can never get along for anything, and are always seen arguing. I understand that Sharon can come off as a hard ass, but I think Virgil plays a hand in making it worse.

I gotta question who was in the writing room.

Context: I don't know. Mileena's been giving credit to Shao Kahn more than necessary.

Mortal Kombat Bimbo Reader

No one has written Bimbo reader with Mortal Kombat and I'm disappointed. So I'm doing a test run.

"I need to die looking good."

When you accepted an invitation to a tournament you didn't think much of it. This wasn't the first time you competed in something. Whether it was cheerleading, ballet, gymnastics, or a beauty pageant, you weren't new to competition.

It turned out to be something comic con related, but everyone was super serious about it so it was lucky that you had your bunny outfit.

Assuming it was a dance battle you made the first move, which involved a spin with your leg, and your opponent was down with a broken leg which caused you to scream. As much as you liked the movie Carrie, you did not like blood. You were stuck though, but at least you got to look at some cute participants.

You were going to die, if you weren't lucky, so you took it upon yourself to always look your best. The only kindred spirit you could find was Johnny Cage, who borrowed your hairbrush in efforts to woo Sonya. When no one else was around the two of you were complaining about everything around you, and how mean everyone was being.

Throughout what transpired, you found out that you are ridiculously lucky. Well, until-

"Fix my nail!"

Shang Tsung had witnessed many terrifying creatures, but hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. So the invasion had to come to a hold, and with him taking care of your broken nail with the finest pedicures in Outworld, you were given an early meeting with Mileena.

You were so taking her out to a shopping trip.

Even with all the bloodshed, you could appreciate that some good things came out of it. Like new friends, and an actor no less.

Johnny got you both modelling gigs and even with her mask the cameras made her look good. And so long as his daughter was happy, Shao Kahn was kept at bay from invading Earthrealm.

Kitana and Jade: Thoughts and Opinions

These are my thoughts and opinions on Mortal Kombat that a bunch of people probably won't care about, but I thought I should post them here. Now I will be using past games as reference, even though every character's interpretation/counterpart is different, they still play part to the canon storyline.

[Warning: I'm gonna bash the hell out of these characters]

These two are annoying. Up from mk9 to mk11, I think deep down I never really liked these two but found them cool based on design. But they always got on my nerves somehow. The first would be their hypocrisy.

They both like to point out the flaws of other characters while completely ignoring their own, such as pride and ego. It's also the way they talk to other characters. Now I know there's a difference between story mode and intros, but they show a lot about the characters. They both have a habit of looking down on Earthrealmers, and if they evolved from that then it's undermining them. Well, they do that with everyone, but still. Sonya beat both of them by herself in mk9 story mode, and still they have an attitude where they underestimate people like her.

I'm very certain Jade is racist towards people who are not Edenian, and insensitive towards the practices and history of others.

In mk9 she calls Baraka a dog after defeating him, and in one of her intros with Jacqui it's revealed she said something terrible. Then again, Jade says a lot of terrible things.

Me: *Offended in black* This looks like Jade's way of saying 'be the bigger person', which is basically a way of saying 'excuse my actions and put up with me'. I don't trust people that do this because they know they are in the wrong but don't want to acknowledge it, and would rather go about their life guilt free so they would make the situation not look like a big deal.

Also, did anyone else notice that Jade and Jacqui are both darker skinned characters whose name begins with a 'J' and wear green in this game? Not important, but thought it was interesting.

To be fair this is just Skarlet's assumption, but I figure she wouldn't say this unless she experienced Jade's discriminating attitude. I'm going to assume Skarlet grew up with them just as Jade grew up with Kitana.

I'm with Kung Lao on this one, she was unnecessarily mean to him here.

I thought you were Edenian, Jade. Also, I just don't like the way she's speaking to him. She's such a bully.

Kung Lao asking the important questions here. Jade seems to respond with pride, just sickening. Don't get me wrong, Kung Lao has his own share of problematic, but I feel for him.

With Kitana... I think it's more of an internalised racism to some degree. I know the basics of Kitana's upbringing, Shao Kahn raised her as his own but also turned her into an assassin (technically abuse), she believed she is the princess of Outworld. And then all of a sudden she finds out what happened to her mother and that Shao Kahn is not her actual dad and stuff- yeah, you get the idea. What I'm trying to point out is that Kitana must've not known about her Edenian heritage, or at least was not told much about it, assuming she grew up knowing about Sindel being her mother.

She grew up an Outworlder, and it's even shown in her ending. Shao Kahn was her father figure for the long majority of her life and she must've shared a lot (not all) of his views, like Earthrealmers being beneath them and how they view other species. For example, their racism towards Tarkatans. Just because she made a partnership with Baraka doesn't mean it changes the way she views their race.

It's like the American presidents altering the laws for black people all the while thinking of them as certain stereotypes or using them for their own benefit instead of just normal people. The racism towards Tarkatans is quite common, Sheeva says to Baraka's face "Tarkatans are all mouth and no ears." not "You are all mouth and no ears." She targeted Tarkatans specifically. [I might rant about this in another post, but I'm just using it as an example here.]

Kitana believes that just because she is merciful that she has not inherited his cruelty, but I very much think she did (his cruelty, I mean). In comparison Kitana just happens to be very graceful about it, or just has more of a mean girl approach rather than an evil overlord.

Outworld is way more terrible than America, it looks like. Why did she think the Matoka would fair better in Outworld? Its also the way that she says it and the expression on her face, she's so condescending.

You know it's bad if Liu Kang is stepping in to tell her off.

That same smugness. She's just like Sindel, wanting the 'strongest' man. Notice how she uses the word 'league'.

I bet Kitana and Jade bullied her, I would not be surprised if they did.

So yeah, I don't like these two. Understand they were making her character either more realistic or a version of her that made sense with her whole upbringing and stuff,but I don't like these two and just wanted to vent out their bad qualities.

It's fine. I should be the one apologising since I shouldn't have gotten so heated. I felt the need to defend my ship. I interpreted the post as you bashing the ship.

I don't think Ayano 'deserves' better, she can choke. I think the shippers believing that are either people who deep down believe they can change a bad person, like most delusional people, or young teens who don't fully understand/can't comprehend the severity of the situation. I think the fact that it's fiction also has something to do with it.

There's something psychological about it that I am not qualified to get into, but I can only theorise.

Whenever I see people saying "Ayano should dump Taro's ass and go with Budo, he's SO MUCH BETTER than him!", I ask: ...why are you so desperate to see Budo go through what Jokichi was subjected to? Do you secretly hate him or are you just masochists? Ayano is not a good match for ANYONE.

Yes you have a good point! Ayano isn't a good match for anyone and it doesn't make sense to suggest that she should be with Taro or that she should dump Taro and go for someone "better" because whoever she ends up with is doomed to live in captivity among other unpleasant things. So why would people say this?

1. They don't know the game's concept very well, especially evidenced by the fact that they think Ayano is in control of whoever it is that she's obsessed with. She isn't. Stands to reason that if they don't know that, they ALSO don't know that being Ayano's lover is definitely not a good thing.

2. They forgot to mention that they're talking about their AU/rewrite in which Ayano isn't a bad person. Like it's very clear that some people like to pretend that Yandere Simulator's problematic characters aren't problematic. What if the bullies weren't bullies? What if the delinquents weren't delinquents? What if Ayano is just a slightly more cunning than average schoolgirl experiencing her first crush? That makes the game more enjoyable to them so that's the lens through which they perceive it, and when they talk about it, that's what they mean.

3. They know exactly what they're talking about and they're curious about how Budo might respond to being put into such a situation. Wanting to see bad things happen to a character doesn't necessarily mean hating them. There are characters in Danganronpa that I think should die, but I don't hate them as much as I hate Vlad from Magicka. FUCK that conniving little "nyeh nyeh I'm not a vampire!" bastard. Point being, they may not hate Budo, but they might think that it would be more interesting to see Budo in that position than Taro.

So which is it? Honestly... I hope the first one, because it's the best compromise between non-offensive and actually realistic. I don't think it's the third solely because the focus is on what kind of guy Ayano deserves to be with, not on who would make a better Magic Senpai. The second one is just... guys, you know Yandere Simulator is gonna be an M Rated game, right? Bad people do bad things. Ayano isn't a good person, even if you play pacifist, because her aim is to take away another person's agency over their life. I've talked about this before with Info-chan but it applies to e v e r y problematic aspect of the game. But I can't really blame anyone who says that Ayano deserves Budo over Taro just out of ignorance. Realistically it's probably a mix of the first and second options tho.
