It was only by an embarrassing amount of begging that her papa hadn't shipped her and her mother off to London in the end β though Maman had left; as she always did when things didn't go her way and only returning when it suited her. It took a long time, but Chloe realises now that she'll never get her mother's approval, or be her perfect carbon copy. And for the first time, ChloΓ©'s okay with that.
ChloΓ© carefully cups her hands around the kwami as she flits closer. It feels good β warm, even β to know that Pollen believes in her. Even if she doesn't quite believe in herself yet. β You're my only friend now, Pollen. I... I need your help. β
β β My Queen ... β Pollen's voice, normally as robust as anyone's worthy of her power, is soft. She presses her hands together - only hesitating for a moment before hovering closer. No matter what has transpired, what has befallen Paris, Pollen can feel it : that honey-warm glow that drenches the connection between kwami and holder.
β I would never hate you ! I have only ever been proud to fight alongside you. I believe - I know that we can accomplish something good, still. Together ! β
β Ugh, I know you're trying to help, but β you clearly didn't get the memo, Ladybug. All I make are mistakes! No one is ever going to give me a chance now. Not Sabrina, not Adrien, not anyone. β
β You don't need to pretend that perfection is your friend. Love your flaws and live for your mistakes. β β« + β‘

β Excusez-moi? Did you have a traumatic brain injury in the last few days or did I just hear correctly that you lied to Adrien about his father?! β

β What were you thinking, Marinette?! β
It takes tremendous effort not to immediately revert to calling Marinette by the old, crude moniker of 'Marinella' in her ire, but she is just so ridiculously upset. At Marinette for lying to him. At Kagami for her complicit silence. At Hawkβ M. Agresteβfor starting it all. Even Nathalie knows the truth. They may be okay to keep Adrien in the dark, but ChloΓ© can't. She won't.
β You have to tell him. He deserves to know the truth! β

πππ ππππππ πππ π πππππ'π ππππππ πππππππ ππ, the more Chloe's eyes began to glaze over. Every part of her wanted to scream, to order him to stop and let it end already so she could do better things with her time. She hated being stuck here, wearing an itchy dress her mother forced her into, putting on a nice faΓ§ade for the public so Papa would get the support he needed.
Enduring this campaign event was her own personal torture; but, at least she knew one face here. She glanced across the room to where he stood and could glean from his posture that he felt as bored and unnecessary as she looked. Without a word, Chloe bee-lined through the crowd and stopped by Adrien's side, arms folded.
β This is ridiculous. It feels like he's been talking for hours! β she hissed, just audible enough for Adrien to hear without disturbing those around them actually listening to her father's awful, droning speech.

β Ugh! Watch where you're going, Dupain-Cheng! Do you have any idea how much this sweater cost?! β πππππ πππ π πππππ, manicured hands balled into fists at her side.
Her mood was already soured prior to running into Marinette. It wasn't even the humiliation of her defeat as Miracle Queen that had set her off; no, it was the notion that Ladybug was never going to give her the bee Miraculous again. The notion that Ladybug, someone she had admired and been a fan of, didn't trust her with it. Quite literally running into Marinette Dupain-Cheng just hours after the battle, was simply a stroke of bad luck. Marinette, with her ridiculously clumsy ways and downright embarrassing lack of conversation skills β and yet everyone in their class seemed to adore her. It didn't make any sense!
β Actually, don't answer that. Your opinion is as irrelevant as your fashion sense is ridiculous! Utterly ridiculous! β
