Anti Capitalist - Blog Posts

I recently saw a post from an asexual talking about how sex obsessed our society is and I am allo myself so I obviously don't know how it is from a perspective of someone who feels no sexual attraction. I have sexual trauma however so I tend to be a bit more sensitive towards sexual adds or nudes in media.

So I saw this advertisement in my city that was displayed on electronic screens that kinda scroll through two or three different ads, which meant the ad wasn't always showing but would rather kinda pop up. And this ad was just seriously a grown man completely naked with only a surgical mask covering up his penis.

I have no clue what this advertisement tried to sell/promote but when ever I encountered it, it would give me a fucking shock to my system because I was traumatized from being flashed by men without my consent for years.

It's a mystery to me how people can be opposed to queer media that might show them interact romantically or with kissing and cry out about how this promotion of same sex attraction is damaging kids with these over sexual things like gay marriage! Behaving like our media doesn't show half naked men and women constantly in advertisement and similar things to kids amd everyone else.

Sex is a huge part of our culture but it is handled in the most confusing way I can imagine. It's being used to sell products to us, however talking about it is not okay? There is so much double standard and paradox rules that create this hostile environment against anything or anyone who doesn't exactly do what the rules tell you to (ergo shut about your own sex live but endure any and all sexual media we promote to you because we know what you like better than you)

Asexual people, queer people, traumatized people and even anyone who likes things considered not "normal" or "the norm" is harmed by this systematically!!!!!

Sex isn't something bad, not wanting sex isn't something bad either!!!!!

Let people live their lives, identities and preferences however they want!!!!

Let's work towards a society in which people aren't constantly bombarded with a specific idea of what sex and anything surrounding it has to look like but rather are presented with a variety of diverse representation that they can consume.

ANTI-CAPITALIST AFFIRMATIONS

ANTI-CAPITALIST AFFIRMATIONS

i am allowed to spend my time creating things, even if they are not beautiful.

there is no such thing as a "real job." all forms of work are real and valid.

there is nothing that i need to accomplish to be worthy. i am already worthy.

doing nothing is good for my soul.

i am not defined by what i produce.

my worth cannot be measured by my paycheck, my job title, or a list of professional or academic achievements.

i do not need to monetize my hobbies, it is enough to spend time doing something i love.

i will not let society decide what success looks like. i can define what successful life looks like for me.

Almost a year ago I got my "dream job" of working at Sephora. I had already began reading a lot of rad fem literature by the time I got there.

10 years ago I would have loved it but by the time I was working there I was already aware of the dystopian nightmare it really is.

It was one thing to help someone find a basic skin care routine to calm their skin but when we had to push certain products.

To make the sales goals you had to look at a woman's face and slowly ask and press them on their flaws and suggest the magic product that would help them.

I did it for one day, I killed it on the sales floor. I could not sleep that night and had already began drafting my resignation letter.

When I grew up, drag full face glam was popular but now it was the "no makeup, clean girl" look and I had to help girl find foundations that would hide their flaws.

Their flaws were either

1. Natural human function of the largest organ we have

2. Cover up the damage they were continuing to do with all the latest products.

I pleaded with parents to not buy little girls skin care than I knew would destroy their skin barriers. But isn't that the point? So when they grow up they need products to help cover up or heal the damage they have caused.

They paid so little I couldn't even afford most of the products in the store even with my discount.

We would have to clap when told we made the company billions of dollars in profits.

It really pushed home the oppressive costume that is "femininity".

I have a lot more to say but I'm droning now.

But I have to say I understand now why people do not want to engage with radical feminism because it "ruins" everything. Everywhere you look you realize the psyops being ran to keep woman consuming and enjoying their bonds.

Reminds me of something happening now...

Finding out that the Nazis privatized industry at a time in which such a thing was unheard of until decades later with neoliberalism has had my brain on fire. I already knew fascism was capitalist but this is the most capitalist.

I think more people on radblr should be talking about sweatshops, especially in the garment industry.

• Around 80% of sweatshop workers are women. Some employers force them to take birth control and pregnancy tests to avoid having to pay for maternity leave. Pregnant women are routinely denied sick leave to visit doctors, terminated from their contracts early, or left without any maternity leave when their short-term contracts are not renewed.

• Women are more likely than men to experience minimum wage violations. According to one study, "30 percent of the women workers in our sample experienced minimum wage violations, compared to 20 percent of the men". [Source: https://www.nelp.org/publication/broken-laws-unprotected-workers-violations-of-employment-and-labor-laws-in-americas-cities/ ]

• Indonesian women employees report that “girls in the factory are harassed by male managers. They come on to the girls, call them into their offices, whisper into their ears, touch them, bribe them with money and threaten them with firing if they don’t have sex with them.” [source: cleanclothes.org]

• "Toilet breaks are monitored, and some workers said they were flat out denied them, even when sick. The same goes for water and lunch breaks, both necessary to stay healthy when working 12+ hour days in a stuffy, overcrowded factory." 20% of women in sweatshops report experiencing sexual violence. [https://iwda.org.au/three-ways-garment-factories-violate-the-rights-of-women-and-how-its-allowed-to-happen/ ]

It's easy not to support this kind of abuse. Do not buy clothes first-hand. Only buy from thrift shops and second-hand apps, or find ethical brands and investigate where and how they make their clothing (hint: if a t-shirt costs $3, it's not ethical). Patch your old clothes. Consider learning basic sewing (it's not as difficult as it seems!)

I don't care how cheap Shein and Temu are. I don't care how much you think you need that specific Zara coat. Buying clothes directly harms women and avoiding it is a very easy way to help.

random but you ever think about the fact that fields of work get devalued once women are a significant percentage

The cursed lovechild of capitalism and patriarchy

The market value is as low as they can get away with and patriarchy dictates that women shouldn't need to earn as much as a man

In America, poverty is a death sentence and Donald Trump and the Republican Party are slowly repealing The Affordable Care Act, making healthcare unaffordable once again. We need Medicare For All, and we need it now. No one should die because they can’t afford overpriced, profitized healthcare.

These are some of the people who needlessly died, just because they couldn’t afford healthcare. Unfortunately, as long as conservative politicians control congress, they won’t be the last.
