Something More, for You and I - Part 1

Summary: Reginald "Rex" Fettson is the Land Agent for Shillshire Castle in England, the home of Lady Amelia Ahsoka Tano, his childhood sweetheart. When war breaks out across Europe in 1914, Rex is swiftly sent to the frontlines and in his absence Ahsoka is hurriedly engaged to a member of fine society at her father's behest: a Member of Parliament with great connections and even greater wealth.

When Rex is on leave from the frontlines, the two meet again, by chance, or perhaps by fate. Will they rekindle their long, lost love despite the limitations of their rank and station? Or will they obey the expectations of their positions, and allow life's one true love to pass them by?

Welcome to my Rexsoka AU: inspired by Downton Abbey and a recent trip I took to England. After touring all the castles and the English countryside, I couldn't help the flood of ideas I had for early 1910s Rexsoka <3 Some inspiration has been taken from Downton Abbey (which is one of my favorite shows of all time, if you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it), and from the history of similar estates and wealthy families of that time, but I tried to give it my own spin.

It’s insane how Mary stayed six months out of the world after Matthew’s death. She wasn’t herself during half of a year, only thinking about him and how lost she is without his company. The parallel between the bride dress and the black dress only shows the melancholic state that Mary was feeling, transfering her into a lost sadness mother. We know that if Mary had died and not Matthew he would have been the same exact way as she was.

Downton Abbey is wild because the stakes are always either SUPER low or crazy high. It’s like, one episode is, “Who will win the gardening contest at the fair? Is the countess cheating?” And another episode is, “The eldest daughter’s fiancé died in the Titanic, then she hooked up with a Turkish diplomat, her first ever sexual experience, and he DIED IN HER BED DURING THE CONJUGAL ACT, and now she has to move his corpse back to his bed without being of suspected of murder, BECAUSE IT COULD START A WAR, and also if people find out she’s ‘damaged goods’ and she can’t find an advantageous match, her family will LOSE THEIR ANCESTRAL HOME!” Then the show’s like, “A maid wants to become a secretary! Will she beat the odds?”

but downton abbey brings out something primal in me — primal as in when i was ten years old and aggressively writing undertale fanfiction, making bad fanart, and doing roleplays i'd be embarrassed to discuss now

I was made to. Literally. See, my mother wanted me to get into it, and the show sounded boring as hell so i kept putting it off or i was like "HOW ABOUT THIS INSTEAD" Two months ago, I got sick, and I was like lethargic, so her genius-ass put on the first episode of downton abbey. And now I am here. She parented a new spinterest for me. I wanted nothing to do with Downton Abbey two months ago. So take it from me, if you're reluctant to get into the shoe, just go for it. It's a little hard to get into at first but it's awesome

as a downtonian i can't help but picture anime-style downton abbey characters

imagine robert with massive fuckin' 90s anime eyes and those dramatic mawkish scenes with the soft pink background and roses with mary and matthew (who also have giant anime eyes)

i may be required to draw this i know this wasn't the initial point but uh whatever it is my world and you all live in it!!!! /silly
