I Love My Family - Blog Posts

Casual life update: My grandparents, lovely retired farm folk, in their 90s, very religious. They say the rosary every night and each day at breakfast they pray for one of their children in particular, and that child's children, and those children's children. They're bad with pronouns but they don't deadname me. They sponsor a college scholarship. In a town with no real grocery store and a dwindling population, they made sure people could come to them for fresh eggs and vegetables even when they couldn't pay cash.

They have recently stolen their neighbor's cat.

I wanna talk about family. Specifically, my family.

Between my bio-father, my mom, and my dad; there are 6 siblings. I'll do my best to explain, but keep in mind that I only use half and step to explain because in everyday life, we just call each other brother and sister (and sometimes not so nice names).

The oldest is my half-brother, E. He is 41 and is a very nice and laid back man. He doesn't really like our bio-father because he used to beat him.

The second oldest is my step-sister L. She is 39 and has pretty ginger hair. I get mad when she dyes her hair blonde. My Dad's oldest.

The third oldest is my step-sister A. She is 37 and a bit odd. She was born in Feb. My Dad's middle child.

The fourth oldest is my step-sister M. She is 37 but born in Oct. A is her and L's half sister by Dad. I am very proud of M, she is going to collage to be a pediatric nurse.

The fifth oldest is my blood brother, C. He is 34 and one of the funniest people you'll ever meet. My mom's first child.

I am B, and I am the baby. I am 31 and considered to be everyone's favorite. Mom's last child.

Phew, with me so far? This is where it gets a little crazy.

I have 5 older siblings and between those 5, they have 18 children. All children are written from oldest to youngest with their parent.

E has 3 daughters: Al, Au, and H.

L has 5 children, 3 boys and 2 girls: Aus, Isa, Myk, Sav, and RyJ.

A has 2 children: Ab and Ad.

M has 3 boys: Mal, Lu, and Da.

C has 5 kids, 3 boys and 2 girls: Kai, Ei, Iz, Li, and T.

I have a cat named Tear (y'all love him).

I'M NOT DONE YET THOUGH.

My niece Al (brother E's oldest), is 20 and had her first baby in March. He is my great-nephew, RyEd.

And I think A's daughter Ab is 18 or 19 and also going to have a baby.

And that is my family! Sorry for the blabbing, but I just wanted to talk about my family.

I hate when people (especially in movies) get embarrassed when their parents drop them off at school. When my mom drops me off, I tell her I love her, blow her a kiss, and make a heart with my hands. I don't care. I love my mom and I'll show it.

I had a great childhood, but I admit seeing my mom make cute little lunches with messages in them for my little brother when all I had at that age were basic sandwiches everyday makes me feel really jealous.

This. This is the post I need to show my family. Thank you for putting this into words.

Explaining autism to an allistic is exhausting.

Because most of the time, in my experience, they don't listen to what I'm telling them that it's a disability and that we force our square shaped selves into the circular world everyday and that slowly erodes the edges of who we are.

They're looking for hidden meanings in order to get Autistics to behave more neurotypical. They want to see us become circles.

I explained why we don't use functioning labels any more. And they will say "yes, but you do function more than some." As if it's an "Ah ha! Caught you!" moment.

I was even told today that I obviously find this all easy. Because I hold it together at work.

And I just get so tired trying to explain that I'm not "Aspie". I'm not "high functioning". I'm not "on the spectrum". I'm not "mostly neurotypical".

We're Autistic, goddamnit.

the church in San Andres Chicahuaxtla, surrounded by fog
stonehenge looking mf i saw on a walk back to my grandmothers
a traditional weaving technique by the Triqui people (not entirely accurate since the material used is too thick, should be the size of sewing thread)
sunset at my grandmothers home :)

Also! The red and white striped clothing you see woman wearing in some pictures are called Güipil. They are woven and worn with a traditional skirt (same weaving method is used but an entirely different pattern and style is used for skirts) by the Triqui people, which I am half :)! We are a fascinating group of indigenous Mexicans so if you have any questions please please ask away!! I wanna talk to yall about my people (or you could just google us but i miss you all :( so)
