i hate tor even more upon rereading why is she even here
i'm rereading the legendborn cycle in preparation for oathbound and have some thoughts about nick after legendborn.
i didn't like him the first time around, but as a firm breesel shipper i wanted to take my shipper glasses off and give him an actual shot.
verdict: i kinda hate him more
sel is 100% right. nick is spoiled and selfish as hell. he doesn't give a shit about anything but bree and his feelings and it shows. i don't think he had any obligation to the taking on his position as arthur's scion, but if he doesn't want it then he cannot throw it around when it benefits him.
he just comes of as some oblivious dummy, and on occasion i believe he's absolutely blind to the struggles bree faces not only as a black woman, but as a black woman within the historically white Order. putting her on the spot in a room full of people who view her as an outsider with absolutely no hesitation or concern is dangerous and he doesn't seem to give a shit.
also, i despise what he does to sel. i understand that what sel did was shitty, not disputing that. but attacking someone who can't fight back and explicitly state he did it because he can't fight back? fuck this guy.
Bree could not catch a break during this entire book 😭😭😭
“Does the know that the moon lives in you, too?”
“Just like she knows that the sun lives within you”
*If people have already made these theories I had no idea, I haven't seen any on my own so that's why I am makin' this post*
And yk great minds think alike and all that!
But back to Selwyn ! and if you haven't read Oathbound, go away and don't come back until you do...
!SPOILERS AHEAD!
Selwyn Kane
son of Natasia Kane
and ARAWAN (THE SHADOW KING, Erebus Varelian's body snatcher, The Hunter, The Great Devourer) WTF!!?!?!
sooooooo
The question and main theory starts with, did he [the shadow king] know?
Because if he did... that kinda changes everything!
So our options are:
A) He didn't know, meaning that he as Erebus Varelian had an affair with Natasia and assumed the pregnancy was with Natasia's husband (Did we ever get that man's name bc I cannot remember it for the life of me)
B) He had an affair with Natasia as Erebus but more likely as some rando guy and knew she was pregnant w/ his baby
C) Her killed Natasia husband, pretended to be him and knew that Selwyn was his child. (We saw how crafty he was to have been Erubus Varelian & Lawsen [warlock guard @ penumbra ]
I am leaning towards B or C, mainly C myself, bc I couldn't see Natasia having an affair with Erebus (She seems too carful in my opinion about that, especially considering that they have the same descendant) or some rando,
She doesn't seem to have enough time for all that drama...
but maybe slept with someone who was not her husband 🤷🏽♂️ and he just happened to be the shadow king in disguise.
ANYWAY
All this to say [ME THINKS] the shadow king did it on purpose, and if he did, he had a reason. IM he trained Sel as a child for fuck's sake so he wants to use him for smth
So his point on insisting that he was a lost cause for consuming Bree's root means that [I think] he wanted everyone to give up on him! Turn him onto his side eventually when he needed him, just as he was trying to do with Bree (by telling her that she would be rejected for forgetting all her living loved ones).
after that I am kinda stuck bc I don't know where the books will go from here as we have The King, The Knight and The Prince reunited again with their history and true lineages in the know, yk.
WAY OFF TOPIC:
But are we all in agreement that Natasia was like so in love with Faye!!!
EVERYTHING I am reading is reminding me of All for the Game, I will never escape it !!!
Nick Davis and his 'i'm fine's' and now Andrew Perrault from Don't Let the Forest In love with an auburn haired boy and has a twin!!!
What is happening !!!
