Title: Silent Hill: Revelation
Release Date: October 26, 2012
Driector: Michael J Bassett
Run Time: 94 Minutes
Quick Hits: Set several years after the original Silent Hill (2006), we find that Sharron (now known as Heather) escaped the clutches of Silent Hill and is living with her father. She is forced to face the terrors of Silent Hill once more to try and save her father from The Order whom only want to be freed from the clutches of Alessa.
Review: Set on the eve of Heather's (aka Sharron) eighteenth birthday, we open in a nightmarish carnival setting in which she is being chased by men in gas masks and many other creepy things that we would expect from the realm of Silent Hill (which I will be referring to from here on out by SH). Lo and behold that is exactly what this is as Heather wakes from her dream being comforted by her father, Harry, who is then attacked by another SH monster in the same way that Freddy, Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, would do using a dream within a dream scenario; Heather actually wakes up this time and everything seems to be fine. It is revealed to us that Heather and her father have been on the run because Harry had killed a man in "self-defense." While at school Heather "falls" back into the SH "reality" without actually returning to SH, as she starts to see the walls rust away along with seeing young children in classrooms teasing a single girl saying "burn the witch," along with another monster coming towards her. She snaps out of it as a fellow student, Vince, bumps into her. Feeling as though she is being followed, Heather calls her father to come meet her at the mall; as he attempts to leave the house he is attacked and kidnapped by an unknown group. Aided by Vince, Heather travels back to SH to try and save her father. While in SH Heather learns of her origins, being the good portion of Alessa, and the scheme that The Order has developed to free themselves from the hell that they are in. In the end she thwarts their plan by joining back with Alessa and a little help from everybody's favorite SH monster, Pyramid Head, dispelling the fog that had consumed SH. The movie closes with Heather and Vince catching a ride with a trucker away from SH as a police convoy transporting prisoners drives into town as the fog and ash begin to rain down once again.
If you like the SH game franchise and have seen the first movie then you pretty much know the main players and the back story leading up to this point. As a sequel to the first movie this one kind of falls on its face. The way that Rose, Heather's adoptive mother, is able to get Heather out of SH (if you haven't seen the first movie they are stuck there at the end and not able to leave, sorry for the spoiler) is kind of a cop-out in my opinion and is feels like it was thrown into the script just to clear up confusion haphazardly; "I just happened to find a talisman that can only get one of us out of here so I gave it to her," come on now that is kind of weak. Speaking of weak, that pretty much sums up the whole of the story for me. At no point are we really given anything new to pull our attention and say "wow" to like in the first SH movie. Other than the weak story I can say that the transitions that were used to move from reality to "SH reality" were very well done, they weren't forced and were very subtle. Whether it was just walking through a doorway or using a cutaway so that a seemingly normal person could be SH-ified. However this is the only uplifting point of the film that I can point out. The movie was made during the "re-introduction," if you will, of 3-D movies during the summer/fall season of 2012 and thus is has several 3-D shots that I feel distract and detract from the movie. I am sure that the effect looks good in 3-D, but in 2-D they just look god awful. If you want closure on the story of Silent Hill I would suggest watching it, other than that I would can only give you the advice that Harry gave to Heather at the beginning of the movie: "I want you to promise me, no matter what happens, you will never go there."

it starts off extremely heavy. dark colours, red lights. rainy atmosphere, gothic aesthetic, loud OSTs, batman walking around with heavy footsteps hitting bad guys in his stiff armor. there was this feel. so... renaissance! i love it.
but i feel like after the 1.5 hour mark things get more.. normal? maybe i just got used to the spectacular directing, i don't know. i just got less overwhelmed and more like, i knew they would pull this off, not surprised. there were still times where they synced the sound effects of batman slamming this guy's head to a car with the beat of the OST which were really sneaky and cool.
i know it's a heroes movie and there is no good ending without a "lesson on morals" at the end with batman spitting a whole morals thesis but it was so.. hero-like. not my style!
OST - perfectly timed, catchy, mysterious.
STORY - interesting with the riddle thing but when bruce slowly progressed through the riddles it got boring. pattinson makes a good batman though! really love the threatening alpha thing he has going on. xoxo
SONGS - if my memory serves me right they only played one song in this movie. two times. and i liked it! so it's okay...!
AESTHETICS - OMG!!! 10/10.... !!!!! upbeat colours, beautiful settings, graphics.. visuals...

DIARY
11th March 2022
i woke up at half past nine. my grandparents brought two pork buns for me as breakfast because they didn't know what i liked. my dad asked the price of the buns which were RM2.50 each. it's a relatively large bun but it has less meat inside compared to the most delicious pork bun i have ever tasted in the city that had so much delicious pork inside that were RM2.80 each.
which was shocking. CITY AND TOWN PORK BUNS ONLY 40 CENTS APART?! ....
at 1120 my parents and i left for the nearby mall to watch batman. at least, we planned to. we prepared to go out at 1111 but only finished changing after 9 mins. i kept my 5 year old pajama top on and changed into puffy shorts that were most likely my mom's from the 2000's.
omg. we were late for the batman movie by 10 minutes. the movie picking screen didn't sell its tickets anymore! before going to the mall i joked about watching jujutsu kaisen 0. it was going to come true right now.
my mom hates all anime except for demon slayer so i convinced her to accompany us to watch because it was "just like demon slayer!"
she didn't like it. 🤭🤔🤬
[IN THE CINEMA]
it had so many people. like 9 at most. not including us! it was such an unusual sight for this small town where even the malls weren't prosperous.
I WAS SHAKING MY LEGS FOR MORE THAN HALF OF THE MOVIE. IT WAS SO FCKING COLD AND I WANTED TO PEE AGAIN AS SOON AS I SAT ON THE SEATS. i just peed before i came here....
the sound system is so loud. for someone who plays her music loud until the first floor also can hear, it must be something. the opening was so hard to listen to. the first few lines were heaven since it was like whispers being magnified then the rock guitar and vocals came and i literally wanted to shit myself of embarrassment. if even i felt uncomfortable what would my mom think of this anime!!!! but the loud arse sound system also had its pros. the fighting scenes were godly. the katana sound effects, explosion sounds, footsteps.. AMAZING!!!
-- end of cinema arc😒 --
after the movie we went to the bookstore downstairs. i have nothing to say about this. just normal me taking pics of the books and sending them to myself, adding them to my BOOKS TO READ photo album.
we then went to my maternal grandmother's house to eat lunch! she cooked steamed egg with pork, steamed fish, steamed potato wedges and australian cabbage 🥬!
3 packs of mini chips more were shared among us. "chips more more like chips less!" there were like so less chips in a single bag but it was too sweet so it was justifiable.
my dad and little cousin played off price street fighter on the tv.
my grandmother was blowing cucumber shaped balloons. (to scare my cousins)
after that we went back to my P grandma's house. there are literally no cats in the day and 5 cats gathered together in the evening.
my grandmother cooked char siew, fried eggs and steamed broccoli with prawn for dinner!!! the latter was the most delicious!!!!
i took many cat photos today~ two cats were questionably climbing trees.

MOVIE REVIEW
Jujutsu Kaisen 0
this movie was awesome!
the first anime movie i actually watched in the cinema and not pirated on animix.play?!??!? it was awesome. best first anime film ever. idk if its just me convincing myself that to think i spent my money wisely but whatever!
OK THE ANIMATION WAS FIRE. my legs were SHAKING for 100 minutes until i was used to the animation and cold arse air con in the cinema. the sound effects were so real i felt like i was there.
sound effects - 10/10 loved the sound of metal scraping the grass.
OST - upbeat and club-esque. i love it they played it in the right scenes.
animation: I DONT WANT TO REPEAT THIS. I LOVE THE ANIMATION. animation made normal fighting scenes we see everywhere in media very exciting. explosions! dodging! slapping each other with a spear!
songs - i only really liked the last song in the end credits. the first two were mediocre.
short video after end credits - 5/10 dk the point of it but it was shocking. i waited 4 minutes after the end credits with a bursting bladder just to watch this?! yuta somehow looks older. appreciate him being in Kenya eating their food though.
repetition - stop replaying the same rika x yuta scene as kids please. i have had enough of "yakusoku da yo🥺" and her smiling. it's cringe to me i'm so sorry. makes me feel like im watching MHA.
6/10 storyline
i THINK. that this movie's plot was ok. if not for the fantastic animation i would've giving it a 6 as shown above. predictable, cliche shonen and shit ending.
SPOILERS
ok but what was that ending i expected more. maybe MAPPA was exhausted. i get it. but rika just exploding and turning into her normal form because she wasn't "actually dead🥺"? and yuta not even dying even though he promised to? idk.
conclusion
anime was mediocre. ost and animation saved this generation's shounen manga.
Book:
This story is based on protagonist named Will Traynor, a successful, passionate, adventurous and sporty person who loves travelling and do anything which pushes him to the verge which makes his life more amazing. Its 2007, when he’s leaving for his office and the rain was pouring heavily and while he was crossing the road to hail a cab then bam a bike lost its control and hit him. That accident made Will quadriplegic. The story starts two years after that accident. Louisa Clark, a bubbly and chirpy girl, who belongs to the middle class family and trying her best to feed her family. It’s the time of recession and Louisa is one of those people who loses her job. Then she tries her luck in different job but couldn’t get along with any. Then she finds the job as a carer at Traynor’s house that are paying hourly wage. Her parents push her to try for this job. The job based on the contract of six-months to take care or somehow entertain Will Traynor. At first the job seems to her pretty boring because the way Will talks to her made her blood boil. Soon after they become good friends and Will tries to pursue her to do those things which she thinks are not her cup of tea.
I like it when Will try to pushes Louisa to an edge where she has done anything which is extreme for her like tattoo making, scuba diving, etc. things she only dreamt about but never wanted to take a risk of getting out of her comfort zone. On the other hand, Louisa is trying her best for Will to change his mind and never go to Switzerland. They both fell in love but Will knows that it’s not good for both of them to be like this forever. The story ends with Louisa sitting in Paris reading the letter that Will has written for her before his death. It’s Will wish that Louisa should see the world and do everything which makes her happy and he’ll be there for her.
I can’t forget about the letter, each words are still resonate in my ear and it’s like he’s written that for me I know it sound stupid because I cry for that like an idiot and I can’t help it.
Movie:
As soon as I finished reading the book, I started watching movie. Well, talking about movie it’s not that much good but the fact is they can’t put whole book in just 1:30-2:00 hours. But it is not that bad, a must watch movie along with Ed Sheeran songs in it. Besides, most of the dialogues are taken from the book. I like Emilia Clarke’s acting, but still it’s funny to see how “mother of dragons” go crazy over stripy-tights as a present on her birthday (just kidding). The voice of Sam Claflin is so mesmerising, I can listen to him all day, why doesn’t he become a radio jockey (another bad joke, sorry for that).
While watching the movie, I remembered Bollywood movie named Guzaarish (2010). The movie revolves around the magician named Ethan Mascarenhas (Hritik Roshan) who is quadriplegic since 14 years and files the petition in court asking for ending his life. But the court rejects his plea. Sofia D’Souza (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) his caretaker who’s been with him since twelve years after his accident and was married to a man who’s abusive to her. Later on Sofia gets divorce from her former husband and confess her love to Ethan. Ethan on other hand loves her too. In the end of the movie Ethan invites all of his closest people and says that he will be dying a happy man with no regrets and a heart full of Sofia’s love and bids all goodbye.
The story in this book (Me Before You) talks about the people who have lost control over their body due to severe spinal injury caused by accident. There are mainly four types of paralysis, namely, Quadriplegic (is a paralysis below the neck), monoplegia (is a paralysis of single part of the body), hemiplegia (paralysis of one side of the body) and paraplegia (is the paralysis below the waist). Though sometimes paralysis can be temporary and can be cured with proper treatment. But the fact is if it’s happen once then the chances are it can come back again. Because paralysis effects the spinal cord and spinal cord connects brain to the nerves throughout the body. Unfortunately, in many cases paralysis isn’t curable. Though medical scientist are trying their best to find the solution for curing it. In the year 2016, there was a news claiming for a treatment of quadriplegic patient. Neuroscientist treated quadriplegic with stem cells and that patient had substantially recovered the functions of his upper body within two months into the process. You can read the whole article here.
There is a non-profit organisation named Dignitas in Switzerland, which provide assistance/accompanied suicide to those people who are suffering from long-time terminal/severe physical/ or mental illness with support from qualified Swiss doctors. Doctors check the person’s previous treatment report and ask them whether it’s their wish to die or they’re coerced to do so. Though the method is a bit costly but some people prefer it to die peacefully. Dignitas is mentioned in book as well as in movie where Will has gone to end his life.
When I finished reading I was thinking what if Will listened to Louisa and never have gone to Switzerland? Will that make his life more miserable and painful or better?
At the end, this story reminds me that not every person are meant to stay in our life forever, no matter how hard we try to stop them to go, but eventually they play vital role to change our life for better.
