I'm literally sick on MY DAY. THIS IS SO RACIST.
Hey remember when they found over 200 bodies of native children buried behind a residential school and the world cared for... what, a week?
They've counted about 6,000-7,000 now, for those of you who do still care

Hello guys! I came to promote the independent animation project that I created with the help of my friends. The project aims to tell stories of the indigenous people “Potiguara” where it has a presence in the north and northeast of Brazil. The character in question in the story is called “M'boí Tatá”.
It has the audio in Portuguese, but it has the option of subtitles in English!!!!
Synopsis: Dandara tells the story of a young character from a Potiguara indigenous family, getting to know one of the stories of her people, spending the day in the village playing, learning and preparing for the rituals of her people with her family. Everyone organizes around a big bonfire until something unbelievable happens.

A concept I did for Vanavaasi - a personal piece about people who live in humongous trees. The trees are so huge that many families live in a single tree. They coexist harmoniously 🌼😆 . #tree #nature #artistmichi #girl #cat #hole #treehouse #house #harmony #native #sketch #art #micron #penandink #ink #window #peace #beauty #princess #dwelling #home #vine #green

Happy coming out day; although us natives like to call it "becoming" rather than "coming out" cuz we are always moving toward who we are in in multiple ways, from infant to elder, from partnered to nonpartnered (or multiple partnered), childless to parenting as a bio parent or auntie/uncle, to name a few transitions--and from one gender to the next. we all have every right to be anyone we want to be, do it in a goot way people.

I genuinely feel like I’m going insane sometimes
When I’m introspective about the last few years I think the biggest mistake that we made, as a company, is betting too much on HTML5 as opposed to native… because it just wasn’t there. And it’s not that HTML5 is bad. I’m actually, on long-term, really excited about it. One of the things that’s interesting is we actually have more people on a daily basis using mobile Web Facebook than we have using our iOS or Android apps combined. So mobile Web is a big thing for us.

I haven’t yet seen a tumblr post with these resources so I am making my own and hoping it shows up in the tags. I ASK EVERYONE WHO SEES THIS TO PLEASE REBLOG THIS.
THE INDIAN CHILD WELFARE ACT (ICWA) IS UNDER ATTACK. AND WE NEED HELP TO PROTECT IT USING THE RESOURCES BELOW.
I am not going to go into heavy detail on the bill, on its history, anything like that, the resources have a lot of information, but as a little bit of background:
It is a bill passed that forbids Native children from being adopted by non-Native families. This is for a good fucking reason, there have been historically large scoops of children taken from their Native families, at a much higher rate than white children (see the 60s scoop in Canada). These children are often abused in these homes, and their entire culture is taken from them (many end up not even knowing what tribe/nation they came from), hence the point of why they were taken in the first place (forced assimilation). Now, this does still happen through the foster care system, but this has protected in the case of adoption. It makes it that only Native families can adopt Native children.
White people hate this and have been smearing it for years (think of the whole Lexi Choctaw/Alexandria P. situation, which was so fucked how they used that little girl). Now, the state governments of Texas, Louisiana, and Indiana have taken it to the Supreme Court to be ruled unconstitutional. This case is called Haaland v. Brackeen. Because white people … really want to steal Native children. This is being heard by the court, oral arguments start WEDNESDAY. ICWA could be overturned in the matter of weeks or even days.
PLEASE USE ALL OF THESE TO PROTECT ICWA:
Petition that will involve you sending messages to your Congressional leaders through their text automated system, only available to those in the US (BUT NOTE YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A CITIZEN, OR ELIGIBLE TO VOTE TO SIGN, JUST NEED TO BE IN THE US):
https://resist.bot/petitions/PCCPGW
Petition to send a message to President Biden and leaders at the Department of Justice, this does have a place to put in your country so seems like it may be available for those outside of the US but I am unsure (consider also donating to the Lakota People’s Law Project if you are able to):

Petition to be sent to the Attorney General and Secretary of the Department of the Interior, since it is through change.org it likely can be signed from outside of the US:

PLEASE SIGN AS MANY AS YOU ARE ABLE TO. PLEASE REBLOG IF YOU SEE THIS. PLEASE HELP US PROTECT ICWA.
As someone who has taken college courses on colonialism, can I just say that the idea that colonized groups or groups that were forced into slavery lived in these perfect societies where no one was discriminated against and everyone was happy until the white man came is literally based on racism. Like, it’s LITERALLY the myth of the noble savage. It’s the same concept that led to things like the Disney version of Pocahontas and other offensive misrepresentations of Native Americans and Africans across popular culture. It’s an incredibly harmful stereotype. No race, ethnicity, or group of people was ever perfect. No one had the answers. No one had everything figured out. Colonialism was BAD, but it wasn’t bad because it ruined paradise. It was bad because it killed and hurt people, destroyed culture, and had harmful impacts for generations to come. So can we stop pushing racist stereotypes as some “woke” ideology, please? Thank you.
