i love how the only hand animated parts in this scene are the eyes.... and yet i spent 4 hours compositing everything else together bc i decided i needed 14 LAYERS of various effects
I think I know why Ironwood arrested and spared Watts despite everything he one, but when Oscar, a child, has a morally correct opinion Ironwood tried to kill him (breaking his aura and shooting him off Atlas).
Ironwood can profit off of Watts. Watts is a part of Salem’s inner circle, and he’s a genius who managed to take down Atlas like it was nothing, because he’s the reason Atlas is as advanced and secure in Remnant. While Ironwood knows that Salem most likely won’t care about what happens to Watts and he can’t use the man to trade for Atlas’s safety, Watts still has information Ironwood can use.
Oscar, on the other hand, has none of that. While Ironwood could have possibly used Oscar and given him up to Salem, he still wants to defeat Salem. He doesn’t want the Relics in her hands. And Oscar, as one of Ozma’s reincarnations, could gain memories or learn about the other Relics whereabouts. While it’s known that they’re kept in Huntsmen Academies already, he could also learn at some point who the Maidens who can unlock them are. And since the Fall of Beacon, it is unknown where the Relic at Beacon currently is (to us viewers, at least).
Oscar is also a reincarnation. Ironwood’s only use for him was Ozpin, and since Ozpin wasn’t there, Ironwood had no use for Oscar. After all, he would just reincarnate at some point. If there is a merger at all, Ironwood knows that that hasn’t happened, so he probably would have expected Ozpin to reincarnate again, or that Oscar would instead and be sent possibly as far away from Ironwood as possible, separating him from his team and allies and no longer being an immediate threat to Ironwood’s plans.
Oscar offers nothing to aide Ironwood’s cause. Oscar doesn’t believe in the same things Ironwood does, he isn’t loyal to Ironwood and Ironwood only, so the General has no use to keep him around alive and kicking in Atlas.
Ironwood tried to kill him. He knowingly tried to kill a fourteen year old child and, from what it looks like, doesn’t have much remorse in doing so. He’s not a good man. He kept who he could benefit from alive, and those who aren’t loyal to him and his cause are criminals.
Edit : basically ironwood failed his vibe check
GELKQGHQLFH THIS IS SO GOOD IT'S UNREAL i'm sobbing wtf TT

"There are approximately 1,010,300 words in the English language, but I could never string enough words together to properly express how much I -" LOVE THIS BLBLBL
Two dozen lovely artists juggled lost files, broken tablets, exam seasons and more to bring you this labor of love - a multi-artist picture music video about Ozma’s lives so far. I hope you enjoy watching as much as we all did making it!

Sorry to get uneasy & extra-specific on main but I wish there was a way to block the very specific narrative that Ozma 2.0 trying to leave with his children was in any shape or form a "betrayal" or "wrong" or "sickening" or one of his faults; because I don't think Salem should be in a 3-meter radius of ANY children including hers and blaming the abuse victim for trying to take his children with him just make me very uncomfortable and I want to close the rwby feed any time I see something close to that thinking.
Look I know that up until that point she was apparently a good mom. But seeing as she basically wanted to replace humanity with her children. And the only magic-people are her, her husband & her children. And that when she saw Ozma trying to leave she immediatly attacked with no care for the girls' safety I wouldn't think she's safe anymore & I would hightail the hell out of here too. The best understanding of mom-Salem in my opinion is that she's a great mom up until things don't go her way, and then all bets are off. And I don't care whether she felt betrayed & anguished by Ozma trying to take her children when she killed them 5 min later.
A very confused Ozma during his first reincarnation
Tired old wizard and his Maidens
Ozpin feeling conflicted about the decision to make Pyrrha an "unnatural" Maiden
Some more Oz-carnations gifs I put together
And another meme for the road !
I made myself sad with this meme bc I realized that the last box is basically just characters who learnt that disagreeing lead nowhere good and they can't win :) (headcannonish in Tai's case but I just can't see Raven concede a point to anyone in a debate) *holds gently the three* You deserve better.
For clarification :
- Cinder only avoids people who disagree with her in the sense that she kills them. - Maria ain't got time to argue with people and she doesn't care.
- JRP + O are civilized and then there's Nora - RWBY all have different ways of dealing with disagreements so I guess they're balanced in that sense at least
I established the difference between "Their opinion is as valid as mine" & "I will talk to them" in that characters in the latter are firmly convinced to be right and aim to change others' mind. Whereas characters of the former category have their opinions but don't necessarily think they're more right.
I WAS WRONG - OH HELLOS
I was born, I was born
I was born at the hands of the potter
And I was torn from the start
I was torn between my god and my father
I was born, I was born
I was born at the dawn of our folly
And I was young, and stubborn to the bone
As I took from the tree that was rotting
I took my chance and bit down deep
The weight of the world was crippling
Now I'll hide my shame with woven leaves
I was wrong... I was wrong,
I was wrong...
And I'm so, so sorry
I was wrong, I was wrong, I was wrong...
And I'm so, so... I'm so, so sorry
I knew you'd never forgive me
But I was wrong... I was wrong
And I'm so, so sorry
I am sorry...
...
A song that I thought nicely fitted our favorite wizard
➸ "The potter" is another way of calling god in sacred texts. Ozma was brought back to life and given his mission by the God of Light.
➸ Right from the start however, Ozma was torn between the terms of his mission and his desire to see Salem again. Misled by love, he ended up playing god in a misguided attempt to unite humanity. In that instance, Salem can be read as his "god", turning him away from his "Father's" mission.
➸ Salem, or more specifically the Salem we know today, was born at the height of humanity's greatest folly : turning against the gods which prompted their annihilation.
➸ She was young, she was stubborn and determined and she took powers from the gods that revealed themselves to be rotten in the light of day. (Immortality is highly desired but was nothing but a punishment for her)
➸ Ozma was given the chance to come back and see Salem again through a deal with the God of Light, and he jumped at this chance. While this was his choice at the time, the apple he bit into was in truth just as rotten as the gods previous gifts.
➸ We all know how his history with Salem played out. That bridge burned, Ozma has nothing left ahead of him but his task. A daunting task that weighs on him, seemingly impossible because of Salem's existence and her immortality.
➸ And in answer to his loss of hope, the wizard hides away from the world : ashamed and desperate, seeing no end to his fighting... Up until being proven wrong by four young maidens. Four maidens who give him the will to keep trying, for humanity's sake.
➸ The Wizard tries and tries and keeps trying. He struggles and fails and yet still holds on. He has mades mistakes and how he suffers from them. But no matter how many times he might fall, he will always get up, an apology on his lips. Because humanity stays worth fighting for.
