Revel in my Greatness

Just when life seemed to be going upward for Midoriya, chaos had to ensue.

Midoriya was happy he got into UA High School. He was bullied for being a plain looking nerd all his life so at least he could say being a nerd got him into the best school in Japan. He convinced himself it was because he was perceived as an easy target and nothing they said held any weight.

So what if he had freckles? It didn’t matter that his hair was untamable and he had a babyface. It wasn’t like he was in control of his appearance.

Of course the same line of thinking didn’t apply to him being a bookworm. He couldn’t help it and he didn’t want to change a thing. He loved reading, studying, and growing smarter with each passing day. Education and knowledge was far more powerful than being popular.

None of that mattered once he entered the most prodigious school in all of Japan. Only the smartest people in the world got a chance to attend. Sure, a person may want to present themselves in the way they want to be perceived, but no one was getting into the school just because they were popular or they had status.

After their first round of exams passed, students' rankings were announced. Midoriya was ranked fourth in his class of twenty. He did his best, but he also focused on maintaining a social life and worked out daily.

Meanwhile Momo Yaoyorozu, number one, and Tenya Iida, number two, focused a lot more time on studying and less on other aspects of their life. Bakugo, who placed third, studied a lot, but also prioritized sleep.

It was a miracle Midoriya was so smart and it was a mystery to him how he managed to keep his rank at number four. He was always doing something and mainly studied enough to get by. He supposed he was gifted to a degree, but tried to avoid thinking of himself in such a way. It was disrespectful to his friends.

On the topic of friends, everyone in class 1-A loved Midoriya. He was passionate, charismatic, and humble. To many in the class, it was refreshing to talk to someone so goofy, but down to earth at the same time.

Within the first month of being at the school, Midoriya had bonded with everyone but Bakugo. That was to be expected.

Bakugo was Midoriya’s childhood rival. Ever since they were young, Bakugo has been insistent on making everything a competition. Midoriya didn’t mind, but he always wondered what made Bakugo so hateful toward him.

It was hard to swallow, but Midoriya knew the only reason he was bullied growing up was because of Bakugo. If Bakugo hadn’t been so cruel, his old classmates wouldn’t have targeted him. Still, Midoriya could have punched Bakugo in the face, but he wasn’t going to risk his record.

Uraraka was the first person Midoriya became friends with. They met the day of the entry exam. She stopped him from falling. The entrance exam consisted of two parts: a written exam and a practical section.

The practical section consisted of five intelligence based challenges a duo had to complete under a short time frame. Uraraka and Midoriya chose one another and he helped her pass when he carried the partner section of the exam. She made some great points, but the pressure of the challenges being timed frazzled her.

Todoroki was quiet and withdrawn. Midoriya was worried why he was so bitter and later helped him out in the middle of an important debate. Midoriya was stern, but genuine when he disciplined Todoroki on his attitude. The two were inseparable ever since.

Iida and Midoriya got along for multiple reasons. They were both academic scholars, they always seemed to help each other grow even during the moments when they butted heads. Midoriya even saved Iida when he was planning to use his skills to blackmail his brother's workplace when they unfairly fired Tensei.

Those were just three people in the class Midoriya bonded with. Midoriya also got along with Ojiro, Tokoyami, Tsuyu, Kirishima, and the rest of the long list.

Despite how popular Midoriya was, no one really knew about his hobbies. Midoriya was a comic book nerd and loved doing hero analysis. Many people knew he liked analyzing things, but he never specified what.

No one knew Midoriya worked out either. The school uniforms hid away each perfectly developed muscle he trained hard for. Midoriya spent two hours every day at the school's gym. UA High was a large boarding school so it made sense they had a bunch of random facilities.

Sure students could leave campus, but offering different options for the students was for their safety. While it was horrible, there were people who would attempt to rob the students. UA High did have a stigma that only rich people attended. At least that’s what the parents of the teens who didn’t pass would convince themselves.

There were a couple of students who regularly trained at the gym that Midoriya became friends with. Mirio Togata was the main person Midoriya talked to and he was a third year. Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu, in class 1-B, was another person who Midoriya often saw at the gym, but they weren’t close.

Midoriya was minding his business, happily talking with Todoroki, Uraraka, and Kirishima in between classes. Suddenly someone came up to the group with a phone and a strange gadget.

“Midoriya!” shouted the random person with a chipper tone.

“Hello! What can I do for you?” questioned Midoriya, turning his attention to the mystery individual.

The girl with long periwinkle hair flashed a bright smile. “Mirio was telling me all about you and I just have to know your result!”

“Oh, you must be Nejire! What result are you talking about?” reiterated Midoriya, still confused about what she could want.

“Your grip strength. Mirio just bought this to track his progress and said he was curious about your score,” explained Nejire, holding up a grip strength hand trainer.

Midoriya flashed a smile, happily taking the instrument from Nejire. “Okay! Let me do this quickly.”

Uraraka, Kirishima, and Todoroki were confused. They recalled that Mirio was part of the big three, but they’d never met him before. The three were mainly shocked that Midoriya knew Mirio.

Kirishima pulled out his phone to record the exchange. The class may or may not have had a group chat without Midoriya in it to gush about everything he did. This was going to be one of the things they talked about.

Uraraka and Todoroki were busy watching Midoriya squeeze the grip strength hand trainer. Midoriya bent his elbow and squeezed tight, eyes closing and he tried to not grit his teeth too hard.

Letting out a sharp breath when he was done, he looked at it before turning it to Nejire. “A little over sixty kilograms!”

Nejire’s jaw dropped. Todoroki’s jaw dropped. Uraraka’s jaw dropped, Kirishima’s jaw dropped.

“Thank you! Gotta go,” shouted Nejire before bolting away in excitement.

“Of course!” called out Midoriya with urgency, a bit startled by her sudden evacuation.

Midoriya turned back to his friends, bowing. “Sorry for interrupting our conversation! Anyways, you were talking about Mina throwing a banana at Kaminari.”

Kirishima held up a hand, forcing Midoriya to pause. “Hold on dude. You have a grip strength of sixty kilograms! What the hell?”

“What? Is that bad?” asked Midoriya in a panic, worried he disappointed his friend.

Kirishima shook his head dramatically with wide eyes. “That’s super good! I’ve never met someone who’s even gotten close to the score you just got. You work out?”

“Yeah! I do cardio in the morning and I weight train two hours later in the day,” revealed Midoriya shyly. He didn’t think anyone would find that aspect of his life interesting.

“So that’s why you seem to disappear!” gasped Uraraka, connecting the dots. “I find it kind of amazing that you manage to dedicate two hours every day to working out.”

“Could you lift me?” asked Todoroki curiously, not bothering to try and hide his intentions.

Midoriya smiled, holding a thumbs up. “Yes! I can do it after school if you’d like.”

Todoroki nodded with a small grin. “Please.”

Kirishima jabbed a thumb to his chest as he shouted. “Me too!”

“Me three!” pitched in Uraraka, more than happy to be lifted like a princess.

A warmth flooded Midoriya as his friends showed interest in what he put a lot of effort into. Still the conversation made heat rush to his face. It wasn’t everyday he got this kind of attention.

Midoriya kept his promise, but the rest of class 1-A was quickly filled in. Bakugo was pissed by the news. He couldn’t believe Midoriya was somehow one step ahead of him. Marching to the gym, Bakugo could already tell it was empty except for Midoriya.

Walking into the large area filled with untouched equipment, Bakugo spotted Midoriya in the back. He made his way over, ready to shout and tease Midoriya when he was stopped in his tracks.

The sight in front of Bakugo was godly. Midoriya had a barbell with an insane amount of weight on it. Midoriya seemed unbothered as he back squatted the large amount of weight. Midoriya was wearing some gym shorts and a baggy tee shirt, but Bakugo could see enough.

When Midoriya squatted, he brought his knees over his toes. Midoriya also hit incredible depth with his butt just inches above the ground. Bakugo watched as Midoriya’s shorts rode up enough to show his leg muscles flexing. Midoriya was mainly training his quads so Bakugo got a good look at just how impressive the muscles were.

Bakugo couldn’t even feel mad about Midoriya’s muscles because it was clear Midoriya worked incredibly hard to get to this point. Still, Bakugo would find a way to poke fun at Midoriya.

When Midoriya racked the barbell, Bakugo stalked forward with a smile.

Midoriya noticed Bakugo and quickly slipped off his headphones. “Kacchan!”

“So the rumors are true. You are a meathead,” remarked Bakugo, smirking as he crossed his arms.

Midoriya sat down his headphones and grabbed his water. It was nearing the end of his workout so a break was greatly appreciated. “Rumors?”

Bakugo stopped a couple feet before Midoriya and rolled his eyes. “The extras were showing everyone videos of you lifting them and the grip strength shit.”

Midoriya’s hand rose to cover his face as his heart began pounding in his chest. “Oh god. They recorded that?”

“They sure as hell did Nerd.”

“This is so embarrassing. I don’t want people knowing I work out,” cried Midoriya, throwing his head back.

Bakugo raised a brow, crossing his arms. “The fuck… why not?”

Midoriya swallowed hard before sitting down on a bench. “It’s stupid. You’d make fun of me.”

“Probably, but I still want to know,” admitted Bakugo, walking to stand before Midoriya again.

“I’m insecure of my body. I always felt too skinny and that clothes fit me weird. So I started training to gain weight. I guess I’m still not satisfied and I’m worried everyone will start making assumptions or begin to have an opinion on my body,” rambled Midoriya, struggling to explain what exactly he was feeling and thinking.

Bakugo rolled his eyes before kicking Midoriya’s leg. “You’re an idiot.”

“Waa-chan!” yelped Midoriya as he threw his legs away from Bakugo’s direction.

“Why does anyone's opinion of your body matter? You’re already smarter than all those losers so you should be more worried about them taking advantage of your mind,” commented Bakugo, trying to process the fact Midoriya didn’t like his body.

Midoriya wilted where he was sitting, bowing his head as he rocked his feet back and forth on the heels before he sighed, “You’re right.”

Bakugo was quiet for a moment, already regretting what he was about to say. “Your body is fine the way it is and anyone would be jealous of your legs.”

“You think so? I always try to hide them,” confessed Midoriya, looking down at his muscular thighs.

“You shouldn’t. If I had a body like yours I’d show it off. If anyone has a problem with your body, that's a personal problem and has nothing to do with you,” argued Bakugo, getting irritated at the mere thought of someone picking on Midoriya for his body.

“That’s… really nice of you to say. Thank you, Kacchan. It means a lot, truly,” thanked Midoriya with a small, flattered smile as he stared up at Bakugo through his eyelashes.

Bakugo felt his cheeks heat up and he was quick to have another explosive outburst as he barked, “Shut it Deku! If you keep spending all your time training you’ll never be number one.”

Midoriya suddenly felt a little bold and teased Bakugo back. “It wouldn’t matter anyways, you’ll always be the best.”

“Damn right!” shouted Bakugo, quickly turning on his heel and leaving the gym. As he made his way to the door, his mind was racing.

No way in hell am I going to stay here and get all soft and cheesy for Deku of all people. Not a fucking chance.

Bakugo thought this to himself as he saved the pictures and videos he just took of Midoriya working out to his hidden folder. The groupchat could starve for once.

Bakugo may have gotten the privilege of stalking Midoriya in the gym, but everyone in class 1-A got the blessing of seeing Midoriya’s muscles. After Bakugo complimented Midoriya, Midoriya was given the confidence to wear shorts around the dorms.

Besides, he happily lifted Todoroki, Uraraka, and Kirishima outside all at once. The entire class was able to watch him activate a large portion of his impressive muscles without even seeming a bit overwhelmed by carrying three people. Many pictures were taken.

Uraraka, Todoroki, and Kirishima may or may not have set one of the pictures taken as their phone background.

“Wow, Midoriya’s legs are impressive,” commented Jiro one afternoon as she was eating yogurt.

“Your welcome,” grumbled Bakugo, before stuffing his face with curry.

Everyone in the kitchen shot their gaze to Bakugo before looking to where Midoriya was standing. Suddenly the kitchen was filled with countless Midoriya lovers shouting. “What!”

Midoriya smiled bashfully while Bakugo laughed at the rest of the group's frustration. Midoriya walked away, no longer hiding his smirk. He’ll never let a soul know he set the entire situation up.

That’s how you remain humble while establishing dominance.

I Have An AU In Which Kiribaku Students Study In The Same Group As Art Teachers Like Me. There Is A Lot

I have an AU in which Kiribaku students study in the same group as art teachers like me. There is a lot of fanfiction on ficbook by my authorship (this is for Russian-speaking dudes)

Sometimes I illustrate it. That's it

BNHA/MHA Fic Rec List

I've seen people put some good fic recs up here, so I figured I'd try my hand at it after spending way too much time reading them myself.

A lot of it is Vigilante and/or villain Izuku, most have some form of Dadzawa, and pretty much all of them have at least a little Angst and/or Whump and are on some level an AU, because I'm a slut for that kind of fic.

This is all just personal preference too, so if you are into the above mentioned tropes I would recommend, but I know it's not for everyone.

Also a few of them have ships that I forgot to note down because personally I don’t really pay attention to that kind of thing unless it makes me cringe.

(I've written some descriptions to some of them because I felt like it *\( ̄︶ ̄*\))

Key:

<> Meh

**** pretty good

<-@ little lower on the Favorites list, but still up there

<3 All-time favorites! Would recommend to everyone if I could!

Anyone - Gentrychild <3

Midoriya is quirkless, but lies about having an analysis quirk so that he can survive in this society. He creates an underground community of people who help each other out and he steals one for all from all might. Things heat up though when All For One enters this dangerous game.

Maybe I don't need a quirk - By CaitCosplays <3

Midoriya is taken at a young age, and returns as a top assassin despite his lack of quirk. This is a story with a great recovery arc, and basically Izuku is a total BAMF assassin without a quirk, and eventually despite all his shortcomings, the first quirkless hero.

Shadow Dance - by EmbraceTheVoid (Verandis) <3

Izuku has an abusive father who is a villain called inferno that breaths fire, he essentially kidnaps him and kills his mother and after All for one gives him a total of 4 quirks, he leaves the LOV and becomes a vigilante and eventual hero with a fan club of emos spawning that confuses the hell out of him because he isn't proud of that stuff at all

Even Heroes need Saving ****

Midoriya is taken at a young age, and trained as an assassin for the LOV, there he does his best to complete his missions but also has a side gig of helping people out and saving lives despite this. Bakugo figures out who he is, Todoroki finds out he's being blackmailed, and they resolve to save him with the help of the police who is pretty split on his alignment. Eventually he saves Iida from Stain and it's all happily ever after until bad writing at the end but we don't have to read that part

Don't Fear the Reaper - 1010happy <>

Yesterday Upon the Stair - by PitViperOfDoom <3

This is a COMPLETED 60 chapter fic with possibly the best recovery arc I have ever seen. Featuring a Midoriya who can see ghosts, and gets one for all from All Might

Sincerely, Midoriya Izuku - by Plantsandpaints <>

Rule of Three - by yuki-setsu <-@

Midoriya is the next successor of the third kind of generational quirk, a third party vigilante known as phoenix spirit or amber, with guidance from the previous successors, each with a grudge against AFO, all aimed helping One for All users from the shadows.

Do Not Let Your Past Define You - by Fire_girl21543 <>

Secrecy - by Rainycat <>

Fire-forged boys - by angst_goblin <>

Manufactured - by MrHost <>

Puppet Master - by KrumbleKitty ****

Great recovery arc, follows Midoriya Izuku in recovering from abuse thanks to his quirk, which can only accessed by another person and allows them to manipulate his body.

One For One - by Revion07 <>

Unwilling Sinner - by StoneLiam <>

Once Upon a Time the End Came - by tsukiyo_yuri ****

Midoriya Izuku is kidnapped and forced to be a villain by the league. He still wants to be a hero, and gets into UA, but discrimination happens

See it all in bloom - by The_Plot_Thickens <-@

Midoriya has a quirk that he hates more than anything, a quirk that means he can't die. So after being finally freed from an illegal experimentation project in which he endures lots of trauma, he is forced to join a task force of children being trained to put their lives on the line every moment they can. Trained to make sure the thin veil of peace between the normal and the villain underground is never broken through, even by heroes. And there is no way out.

The Hand That Saves - by Pseudonymous (Cloudgrey) <>

Quirkless by Felilla <>

Ascendant by Gentrychild <-@

Midoriya has, what is essentially, All for One. But being the cinnamon roll he is, he abides by a code to only take quirks with permission, from people looking to get rid of theirs (often retirees who have experience and want to hand theirs off to make it more useful). Of course, the whole USJ incident makes this harder, when he tweeks his code just a bit to include people trying to kill him, taking their quirks as a last resort, and after All Might, Grand Torino get over their initial suspicions about him and his quirk, they back him up and keep him safe from AFO, because if he ever found out, dear god.

Viridian - by SilvermistAnimeLover <3

To put it simply, the apocalypse is likely to give you PTSD, even if it hasn't technically happened yet. In his first run, Midoriya Izuku grew up to be the famed illusive Vigilante Viridian in his 30s, made friends with Aizawa and Hizashi, and was forced to watch the world fall to chaos as one of the few survivors to Shigaraki Tomura's Apocalypse. His mission now? Rebuild Project Hope, go back in time, and Kill Shigaraki during the USJ attack. If only it didn't hurt so much to see all of your dead friends alive and trying to help you, knowing they could never be the same people he once knew and trusted during his hardest times.

Before my heart gives out - by Kira18 <3

Midoriya Izuku gets caught up in a near fatal accident when he's young, killing his mother and leaving him blind and with only 8 years left to live. He knows in that slim time frame that he could never achieve his dream, so he becomes the next best thing. He becomes a Vigilante.

Problem is, the time he has left to live is getting smaller much quicker than anyone anticipated.

A Dangerous Game - by tsukithewolf <-@

Very, very much worth the read, but for me personally it just drags on in places.

Worthless Necessity - by Kirityu_Ryukaro <-@

[Major Trigger Warnings for Suicide and just being a little too good at representing depression)

Midoriya Izuku has an anti-death quirk that gives him depression and suicidal tendencies. It only works when he wants to die. What good is immortality and invulnerability when all you want to do is end it all? It's torture that's what it is, unless Nedzu and Eraserhead can find a way to save him.

For Whom the Bell Tolls - by TiredTaro <>

Apartum Mortem - by so_don't_let_in_the_light <>

Ethereal Light - by DomDomDraka <>

Looking Glass - by twistedthicket1<>

Kidnapped Izuku /Reluctant Villain Deku with all that self-loathing, and he has a quirk that has been weighing on him for a while, makes him crave information like a drug and after being kept in isolation for years in a tiny cell, well it's kind of ruining him, and making him do terrible things. It's an information quirk that needs to be managed well and leaked out healthily, but he can't do that so it's driving him insane.

Once Forgotten, Twice Removed - by blueh <3

A cute fic that a read whenever things are slow and I need a pick me up that doesn't rot my teeth, No. 1 hero Midoriya Izuku is transported to an alternate reality where he's a villain by All For One, who thought that he would be a villain in his reality too. Oh how wrong he was…

Bloom in Winter - by e_va <3

Fucking brilliant but little hope for updates anytime soon. Midoriya was taken by his dad and essentially forced into villainy for an organization focused primarily on secrecy. This is his story on how he got wrapped up in UA, trying to not make anything worse, but also trying to keep his cover as a spy. Doesn't help that he is too kind and anxious for his own good, and the person he's supposed to be spying on is taking an interest in him.

Flare Signal - by acheivingelysium <>

Undefined - by Plantsandpaints <>

Research to Rescue - by KingofPillows <3

A beautiful fic where Izuku is forced into an underground villain organization against his will with threats to his mother's life. Later on he becomes an assassin, and given artificial quirks. Even later, Eraserhead is commissioned to work undercover as a mole against this organization and bumps into Izuku, who resolves to do whatever he can to bring his father down.

Again something I frequently find myself returning to and binge reading

Something's Gotta Give - by TubbsTheCat <3

A probably the best slow burn tragedy I've ever read. This isn't a redemption arc in the slightest this is just pure self-destructive tragedy as Izuku falls into Villainy to support the people he cares about, at the cost of everything. They say a tragedy is written with a character falling to their flaw, and I've seen it done so far with only things people see as commonly bad. In Macbeth it's Ambition, in the Joker it's reckless insanity, and in many other villains it's just pride and greed. I've never seen it done with kindness or loyalty. I've never seen them use a traditionally good thing in excess, and actually ponder the frightening implications of what happens when this person is just helpless, and watching themselves fall and make bad choices, because what else are they supposed to do?

at times so self destructive - by theshoutingslytherin (Oneshot) <>

It's spelled 'Trader' not 'Traitor' - by JackobolTrades <3

Frankly this intelligence of this is amazing. Izuku is given All for one and trained to be his successor, even though he has no intention of doing so. So what's a criminal with an all-powerful quirk transfer ability supposed to do? Well become a psychologist and open an under wraps business in trading traumatising and mentally damaging quirks in exchange for ones better suited to his customers. All while single handedly manipulating both All for One, the league of villains as a whole, and despite being duped hard in the end, also UA. He just wants to help people, but he'll be damned if he doesn't take down a bunch of villains and keep his double life a secret if that's the case. Oh did I mention he becomes UA's most popular Psychologist and miracle worker? Because dude is solving everyone's problems around here and it shows. Also the ending was amazing btw.

Maelstrom - by GuadianOfTheLoaf <3

Izuku Midoriya has a strange water based quirk and a strong affinity for the ocean. He ran away from his foster home when he was around 10 years old and making his home in a small train car on Dagobah beach. Since then he has occupied a double life as a vigilante turned pro-underground hero, and a student at UA. His whole life he's been ignored and rejected for his physical mutation, long messy hair and unnerving glowing eyes and webbed hands and toes.

Or at least, he used to think that was true…

Leviathan - by rest_in_rip <3

Midoriya Izuku's quirk is one he has to keep constantly under wraps, not even his mum knows. It only took one slip up when it first came in to kill 32 people during a stressful situation. Since then the mysterious and dangerous Leviathan hadn't shown up publically since, and Midoriya would very much like to keep it that way. If only he had more control over his quirk, while he was fully transformed, maybe then he'd be the kind of hero who's quirk is more than just growing lizard fins and traits whenever he's feeling anxious. He just has to be a hero, and make it through his years without a single person figuring out what the Leviathan really is.

But you gotta get up at least once more - by simkjrs <-@

It's not vigilantism if it's not breaking the law… technically. Basically, Izuku gets crazy strong without the help of a quirk and uses his training in fighting to help people wherever he can. This of course, puts him in contact with a lot of grateful people… also Bakugo gets a redemption arc that starts with fallout that's an absolute nightmare. Also Izuku has anxiety and can't seem to understand why All might of all people has taken an interest in him.

To Be or Not To Be - by Bluehorse44 <-@

Izuku shows up to his first day as a forced teachers assistant at UA wearing a stained aviator jacket, messy hair in a rainbow band he found in a dump with a pair of handcuffs dangling from one of his wrists. Also he has 2 alter's called Beetle (a basically villain who exchanges favours and contracts) and Witch (a vigilante and basically the mom of the group). Basically everyone in Izuku's head is screaming all the time as everything turns to chaos while the 3 of them try to manage this absolute mess of a life.

Detective Midoriya - by rogueptoridactyl <-@

Midoriya as it would turn out, would make an absolute amazing detective, despite his unconventional methods. Doesn't help that he's amassed a following and a new tight knit family at the local police force with the general understanding that while Izuku can take care of himself, if anyone crosses him they'll have hell to pay. Just like that hero who told him he couldn't achieve his dream so many years ago, if only Tsukauchi could figure out who that is…

Silent Shadow (series) - by tunafishprincess <3

Izuku Midoriya is dead. Bakugo Katsuki knows that for a fact. He felt his friends blood on his face, held his lifeless body after he'd risked his life to save him from the sludge villain, and nothing can ever make that ok. But Kuro knows his face. He remembers his name after so long spending his time confused with a warp quirk that didn't quite feel right and a past that he was told so insistently didn't exist. He remembers Kacchan. He remembers Izuku Midoriya, but he's still trapped by the people who gave him a new life. One thing he knows for sure though is that he isn't going to kill anyone, and he isn't going to let the villains win. Even if that's all he was created to do, and even if that means submitting himself to them all over again.

(essentially a brilliantly thought out series about Midoriya Izuku dying in the sludge incident and being picked up by AFO to be essentially formed into a new Kurogiri. All while Bakugo processes his guilt and Deku/Kuro tries to figure out who he is. IN case you haven't guessed, I really like how they handle the emotions of the characters in these fics)

And Again - by one_step_closer_to_death(orphan account) <-@

Depressing as FUCK! Midoriya is born with a powerful regeneration quirk, one that prevents him from dying, and after so, so many failed suicides after the death of his mother, he really can't help himself when a stranger offers to take away the source of his suffering in exchange for him spying on UA. And then it hits him what that means for the students…

Accidental Hero - by CashewsAndCoconuts <-@

Midoriya Izuku has long since given up his dream of becoming a hero. It's just impossible ok? Especially given His mother's recent financial struggles. Now his only goal really is to just keep making money to support them both, which leads to some… interesting encounters? Meanwhile on Aizawa and Tsukauchi's end, there's an accidental vigilante on the loose who takes favours from the police and is way nicer than they ever could have thought with how frustrating they are. Things heat up even more when it turns out Izuku got into UA completely on accident, after the teachers fought over custody and saw him rip apart several robots for a high pay job.

It's actually… a pretty funny/cute story, I'll be honest.

Monsters Made Human - by rowanberrywriter <3

Izuku doesn't remember much of his old life. What he does know is that he has to follow orders, like all good Noumu should, and take care of Eri. After being given to the Yakuza as a piece offering, Izuku is silent and gets the job done without complaint despite the active abuse and hurt he and Eri suffer every day. But when it turns out that Overhaul and the LOV plan to use Eri to create more Noumu like him, put others through that much pain and suffering, he realises he cannot stand by and let this go on anymore.

Something Wicked This Way Comes - by Eternal_writes <-@

The Rabbit in Red Sneakers - by WithoutPastel <>

Spanner in the Clockworks - by All_five_pieces_of_Exodia <-@

An ongoing fic that starts with Midoriya waking up in an alternate timeline and wondering what the hell is going on. When he realises though that he has the chance to prevent USJ from happening and help people like Eri long before he would have in his original timeline, he takes that as his que to become a temporary vigilante, at least until he gets into UA again and finds out what happened to the other him.

Alpha Grieving - by Oliverofthebrynn <-@

Biocide - by lia_ne <-@

The Origin of Eclipse - by GriffinRose <3

Midoriya should have known his father was a villain. And he should have told someone when he was forced into his shady black-market deals. So when his father tries to put a quirk erasing drug up for sale it's only natural that he does everything he can to stop it.

Of course, things get complicated when calling in the heroes doesn't go as planned, and when Izuku is found out and Eraserhead is shot, his father threatens to kill him if he ever sees him again. It's up to Izuku to rebuild his life and keep his mother safe, all while trying to take down his father's business as much as he possibly can. If that involves becoming a vigilante with a really stupid name? So be it. The only thing that really wasn't on his roster though was becoming a pro-hero.

For me, the ending didn't really do it for me, but it was still a really good read regardless.

Know what I've made by the marks on my hands - by simkjrs <3

There are things he can't say and there are things he'd rather not. One of those things is his curse, and the other is the many, many stupid decisions he's made in the past. Of those decisions, these last couple of days have just been the worst haven't they? Fixing quirks at the request of spirits who probably hate him despite it all because he shouldn't exist, and cursing his own inability to just leave it alone when people are in trouble. Even when he knows it’s a trap he can't help but try to help a spirit, can't help but try to fix a hero's quirk, and now he's paying the price. It seems no matter what he does just he can't escape what happened in Kamino Ward.

Complicated Creation - Elemental <3

This was very much inspired by simkirs work, but my god is it worth a read. Elemental did their research, and it's completed, it's got Dadzawa, and it made me bawl my eyes out (which is actually pretty hard to do).

And if the ending doesn't make you cry out in joy you are a dirty, dirty liar. Mark my words.

Hero's Shadow - by feelingstabby <3

Feral - MoonPaw17 <-@

If you like Dadzawa and generally just fluff and comfort and shenanigans then boy howdy this is the fic for you

Viridian: The Green Guide - by myheadinthecloudsnotcomingdown <3

The thin grey line - by A_ToastToTheOutcasts <-@

This fic is complicated, it stems around Izuku being rejected by All Might, but picked up by another Vigilante called kuroko, the black fox, who is unable to continue as a vigilante and searching for a successor after he is forced to retire after an injury. It's actually pretty good, but didn't really do it for me. Izuku is powercrawling and learning and lying as a result of this, and it shapes the narrative, but I think it could have been done a lot better. That's just me. It's still really good, but the finale didn't really do it for me.

Can I try again and again and again (series) - by ijustwanttodestroy <>

Izuku is (Afraid) (series)- by sleepingugly <3

I really like this fic. It seems simplistic and is lacking a lot in the tags but essentially Midoriya (now in his late teens) is contacted by a government faction for quirk development after it had been revealed that he could potentially have a quirk and they are going to do everything they can to get it out of him. Add to it Amnesiac Bakugo Katsuki, a hidden web of family villains and a huge fear of the ocean and Izuku is in for a rough time.

Sunshine through the shadows - by DancingInTheStorm <-@

Almost right after Kamino Izuku is arrested and mistreated in prison after he finds out his father was AFO. After some government corruption and general bigotry he escapes, becomes a fugitive and starts a soup kitchen. The story follows Todoroki, Aizawa, Uraraka, Shinsou, etc. as they try to find their lost friend who they've been endlessly worrying about for years with almost no confirmed details. It's really charming to see everyone reunite despite the difficult situation, and Midoriya despite everything is still very much the cinnamon roll we all know and love and it's just fucking beautiful okay?

From the perfect start to the finish line - by supercrunch <3

This fic is heartbreaking, but it sets up a great and realistic take on what it is like as a mother who is struggling with doing all she can to protect herself, and more importantly her child. I love this fic so much, for all the characters it takes into consideration. Most Dad for one fics are pretty generic when it comes to hand waving to get to the initial premise. A lot of the time it's just the unspoken agreement that he's a bad father and Izuku is dealing with he consequences of trauma, but we don't actually see a lot of the effects it has on other characters like Inko. And I'm going to be honest, this fic absolutely blew me away with amazing writing that only enraptured me an in amazing premise I hadn't and probably wouldn't have considered otherwise..

No Good Deed - by Notsogoodwithwords <3

This fic is perfect for a bad day, 15 chapters of Dadzawa and it's really just so heartwarming. Not overly fluffy by any means, but with so much comfort and the like that it really just made me smile. The Plot centers around Izuku, who's been taken in by Aizawa after he was found bleeding out in a garbage pile in the city after his mother's murder. Kid needs help, and Aizawa isn't sure he's the right person to give it. In fact, he's insistent he isn't the right person, but there is absolutely no way he isn't going to do all he can to make sure this kid is okay again. And I love it so, so much.

A Difference in Perspective (series) - by town_without_heart <3

An absolutely mind blowing fic that had me on the edge of my seat and wanting more. It follows Tsukauchi Naomasa, now reopening a fifteen year old disappearance case of one Midoriya Izuku under the request of the No. 3 Hero Ground Zero. This little mystery though ends up being a lot more than anyone bargained for in the end, because Midoriya Izuku, while staying out of the public eye, managed to change so much of the world without anyone even knowing it.

This is arguably one of the best MHA fics, or screw it, one of the best books I have ever read. Just about every chapter had me on the edge of my seat and desperate for more.

What We Cannot Undo - by Cacid <-@

A ghost Izuku AU that actually works, and nobody is more surprised than me. Cacid really pulled this one off really well, with accurate depictions of depression and guilt and grief that really puts you in the head of the characters. Plot line for this is simple. Izuku Midoriya committed suicide, but it takes some time to remember why exactly he is dead, and more importantly process that he had an invisible quirk all along, all be it with gruesome implications. He becomes a vigilante of sorts, while wandering Musutafu and just idly existing as he is. And in his mind Izuku Midoriya is someone he is ashamed of, because it meant that he threw his life away for nothing. Nothing left to do but put some more distance between himself and his past… if only Aizawa Shouta was not so persistent.

Aphelion - by ForgedObsidian <3

Izuku Midoriya is kidnapped on his way home from school by villains and even after weeks of being in their care, trapped in a small room with nothing but a bed and a toilet, he still has no idea why he was taken or what exactly they want him for. Still, that doesn't stop him from trying to escape every chance he gets, not even the doctor working on him will really answer any of his questions. There is someone else though, trapped there with him. Someone he feels he knows from somewhere, and someone who really needs help.

TL:DR an AU where All Might didn't return from his battle with All For One.

(Another fic that I frequently return to for reasons unknown other than this is a really good fic.)
