This fanfiction was written before the release of the third Sonic movie, so this story can be considered his alternate universe...

— Great job, guys! We did it! Sonic the blue hedgehog solemnly announced to his friends and brothers, the yellow two—tailed fox cub and the red warrior echidna Knuckles, standing next to a pile of scrap metal that just a few minutes ago was a formidable military machine of the GUN organization.

— I wonder what else we can expect from these soldiers...— sighed Tails.

— I hope that there won't be any more battles or battles for today... — Sonic looked at the fox cub. He couldn't blame the kid for his words, because all three of them were pretty tired from fighting today.

And the hedgehog still couldn't understand why the GUN was so angry at him and his friends, because they hadn't done anything wrong. Yes, the Hanoverians still did not like the motley trio, but they still did not touch him or his friends and family until today. But then the question arises: why did they suddenly decide to hunt them, especially him, Sonic?

Sonic, on the other hand, lived quite peacefully in the town of Green Hills, and did not commit anything so criminal. Of course, he couldn't always sit around, so he could mess around. But all his pranks were harmless enough to be hunted down like that. Did someone really consider his fun to be a real crime?

In any case, Sonic and the others wanted to get to the Wachowski house as soon as possible, where they would definitely be safe.

— On the contrary, I would not mind another battle! Knuckles suddenly responded, flexing his fists. "If that's all these pathetic warriors are capable of, then they're no match for us.

"Knuckles, you'd better keep quiet, otherwise you'll get into trouble," the blue leader chided the red warrior. "What did I say?" — Echidna did not understand. — Battles are the meaning of my life! And... how am I going to get into trouble?

He came out into the light, and the three friends gasped when they saw a representative of their race, the Mobians. But Sonic himself was the most shocked. A black hedgehog with red stripes towered over him, standing in a proud pose.

— Wow! Another hedgehog? Tails was amazed. — And moreover... he looks a bit like you, Sonic…

Yes, even though the black and scarlet hedgehog had the side needles on its head turned up, while the blue one had all the needles turned down, and the alien also had red eyes, like the stripes on its skin, and there was a white fluffy tuft of fur on its chest, and its feet were not wearing sneakers. and the jet boots, nevertheless, Sonic noticed some similarities with him. And it's quite attractive for a teenager, which is also a blue hedgehog. And if you don't pay attention to some of the eye-catching details of the exterior, then the striped hedgehog could quite look like a reflection of the blue hero, only maybe dark, or like his ... shadow.

— It's been a while since we've seen each other, Sonic, right? — the stranger was still talking to his fellow.

—Sonic, do you... know him? — Tails asked Sonic uncertainly.

- N-no… It's... the first time I've seen him... — was all he said, and then suddenly he screamed. Putting his hand on his forehead, he clenched his teeth, and some fuzzy images appeared before his eyes: as if at first he was playing and laughing with someone, then horror and fear came, and then complete darkness.

"Sonic, are you okay?" — The fox cub was worried about his friend.

—Yes... I'm fine... — Sonic whispered, having overcome a sudden headache.

— Are you sure about this, hedgehog? — Knuckles also expressed concern.

— Yes, yes. It's okay, guys. Everything's fine, — and then blue turned to his kinsman. "Who do you even think you know me?"

"Have you really forgotten me, Sonic?" Striped asked, feigning surprise. — Maybe those nasty people who hunted you can help you refresh your memory?

Then suddenly it dawned on Sonic…

"So you set me up, huh?" Is GUN following us because of you?

- Hm. Well... you could probably say that..." the black and red hedgehog grinned slyly.

"So you're the criminal the GUN soldiers are looking for!" — Sonic got angry. "You should be put in jail!" — he glowed blue all over.

—If you think so... then try and catch me,— Tabby said mockingly.

Sonic angrily rushed towards the stranger.

— Sonic, wait! — Tails tried to stop him, but the hedgehog did not listen to him. Sonic was too angry at the hedgehog, who had, in fact, put him and Blue's family in danger! He could not allow the attacker to escape deserved justice so easily.

At the same time, he remembered how he left his first family on his home planet, the owl Longclaw, who took him under her wing. He just couldn't make another mistake and lose the second family he had found on Earth.…

Here the hero jumped up, curled into a ball and rushed to attack the dark hedgehog. Knuckles and Tails couldn't believe what was happening in front of their eyes: Sonic had never been as furious as he was now, so they didn't understand what could have angered their prickly friend and brother so much.

—Take it, You Faker! Sonic exclaimed, continuing to charge at his kinsman. As for the black hedgehog himself, he stood calmly, keeping his composure. And then he said faintly:

—Chaos Control, — and then he disappeared.

And Sonic just shot forward until he hit the asphalt, leaving a decent dent in place.

— Oh... what happened? Where did that hedgehog go? — shaking his head and coming to himself, he said.

— Sonic! — soon his sworn brothers ran up to him.

"Aren't you looking for me, blue hedgehog?" — three guys turned their gaze to one of the high-rise buildings, where the unknown man was now standing.

"Is he really that fast?" — Sonic was amazed. "Is he even faster than me?"

—I... I don't think it was speed, Sonic..." the fox cub hesitated. And the stranger continued a moment later:

— Ha! Nothing compares to the power of Chaos itself... and only the Ultimate Life Form, which I am, can master it.…

— Oh, yeah? If you're not a coward, but come down and fight me! — challenged the Ultimate Life Form of the blue hedgehog.

"You shouldn't underestimate me, little hedgehog..." he giggled. — I really shouldn't have... — but still went down to the ground, although he did not approach the heroes.

— Come on! Fight me one on one if you are not afraid of me and my power! — Sonic got ready to run. — Just watch it without tricks!

Meanwhile, Sonic kept trying to figure out what kind of super-fast hedgehog was next to him. And... why did it look kind of familiar to him, albeit vaguely? — Heh. Now we're alone, hedgehog. Show me what you can do without your... "friends," the black and red hedgehog sneered.

— With pleasure, Faker! — and Sonic tried to kick his kinsman, but he deftly dodged, and then struck back at the blue with his fists until he collapsed to the ground. But quickly recovering, Sonic rushed back into battle. However, the enemy easily repelled his attacks, it was clear that the hedgehogs were equal to each other in strength and were not inferior to each other.

"Then how do you like it?"

Sonic went on the attack again, but, alas, he missed, as the other hedgehog managed to jump back in time. Nevertheless, the blue one did not give up and continued to strike, until one of them hit the same boastful striped tribesman.

— Hmph. Not bad, — he involuntarily praised the hero, which made our blue even a little embarrassed. "For a beginner,— and the black one hit Sonic right in the face, knocking him aside so that he bent a lamppost. "And yet... I'm a little disappointed with you… Sonic".

Sonic, admittedly, has already managed to run out of steam. He already had a difficult day because of the soldiers, so the addition is still now an unfamiliar hedgehog, running as fast as he does, and also possessing the energy of Chaos itself.

Therefore, he continued to lie on the ground, catching his breath.

— Sonic!!! — soon screams were heard, and after a couple of minutes, his loyal friends were already next to the prickly hero.

— No, hedgehog. Then we will fight to protect your honor! — Knuckles said, and stepped in front of his younger companions. "Listen up, hedgehog! More precisely, the dark hedgehog! Leave our brother alone and fight with me!"

— And with me too! — Tails volunteered, standing next to Echidna.

The striped hedgehog didn't even look towards his rival's loyal companions, as if they were nothing to him. He rolled his eyes in boredom.

"I don't care about you two. You are not worthy of my attention.

—Oh, right! — Knuckles said angrily. —Then I'll make you pay attention to us, dark hedgehog! — and the red warrior attacked the insolent man. The man only stole a glance at him, and then suddenly disappeared, so Knuckles couldn't get to the stranger either. — Argh! You're dishonest, dark hedgehog! You're only bringing shame on yourself by hiding from me and my righteous wrath!

— You are not my rival, Red, so give up. We can fight in another one, but now I've come for the blue hedgehog," the friends were surprised to see the black and scarlet one on top of the lantern.

— You won't get Sonic, no matter who you are! Tails stood up for his best friend. He was all fluffed up in anger.

- Yes! And are you really afraid of my fists? — Knuckles quipped, striking his fists apart, and small red lightning bolts ran across them from the impact.

—You two are just a waste of my precious time,— the hedgehog calmly replied to them. — And I came here only for the sake of the well-known "Blue Justice". However, I thought that our glorious blue hero was much stronger and more capable than the way I see him now.…

—I... Haven't... Finished... Yet... You Faker! — Sonic shouted, all lit up with lightning. "And I'll show you what heroes can do when they're underestimated and belittled!" — the blue hedgehog rushed at the enemy again. He grinned contentedly.

"That's what I expected to see from you, Faker," his striped kinsman broke into a smile, after which he also sparkled with lightning, except perhaps in red, and then, curling up into a ball, rushed towards the hero.

Sonic also curled up into a sparkling blue ball on the fly, and then both hedgehogs hit each other. They were thrown in different directions, but that did not stop them from returning to the fight.

With each attack, there were bright blue-red flashes of light.

It felt like someone had staged a light show.

Tails and Knuckles even had to turn away, squinting so as not to be blinded by such a sight.

Well, the two prickly tangles continued to spin and spin for some time, colliding with each other along the way, until with one powerful blow they bumped into each other, unwilling to yield to their opponent in strength.

And after such a powerful blow, a huge wave swept through the area, which caused windows to be blown out in houses and other buildings and even cut off electricity.

Tails and Knuckles were also affected, and the two of them were thrown aside.

And two hedgehogs bounced off each other after their big collision with each other. Each of them, breathing heavily, managed to exhale decently.

"Very impressive, blue hedgehog,— the black and red hedgehog said, catching his breath. — You really managed to show me your strength.

Sonic didn't even know how to respond to the praise. Besides, he expected a trick after the opponent's words, just like last time.

"However, you..." the striped one soon continued, "still have a lot to learn...— he straightened up. — Join me, Sonic… And you... will know the true essence of the power contained in you.…

Sonic was shocked by what he heard. He turned to his friends. They were recovering from a powerful explosion caused by hedgehogs. And then, having regained control of himself, the blue hedgehog replied to his fellow:

— Sonic, what are we going to do? — the fox cub shouted to his friend. Sonic didn't immediately figure out what to do, because he still hadn't recovered from what had just happened to him.

—You and Knuckles get out of here, as fast as you can!" Go back to Tom and Maddy! And I'm going to stay here and distract the GUN's attention on myself! — the blue hedgehog commanded and was already preparing to run when his friends called out to him:

"But, Sonic, we can't leave you!"

— The fox is right, the hedgehog! We are clansmen, one family, and therefore we must cope with difficulties together!

— Guys, I appreciate your help, honestly! Sonic asked them. "But I know what to do!" Besides, if something goes wrong, then you, Tom and Maddie can come up with a new plan! Now go away! Right now!

"But… Sonic..." Tails said, because he didn't want to leave his best friend alone with the GUN people.

"You heard him, fox. Let's go quickly,— Knuckles urged him, and the little fox, casting a sad glance at the hedgehog, flew up on his tails and headed away from the city with echidna.

"At least they'll be safe..." flashed through Sonic's mind. He looked after the guys with a smile on his face, and then ran forward to meet the soldiers.

Also, while running, the striped hedgehog, who introduced himself as Shadow, appeared before his eyes again.

Ha! Shadow... is that really his name? The guy who looked kind of blue? Surely it's not possible that Shadow... turned out to be Sonic's doppelganger?.. Or at least a kind of doppelganger?..

But here's what's weird… For some reason, Sonic found that strange hedgehog... really familiar.… But only... how could he know that?..

"Now is not the time to chase after visions, Sonic! Concentrate! We need to get the soldiers as far away from Tails and Knuckles as possible so that they don't get hurt! Concentrate! Run faster!" the young hedgehog thought, growling to himself, not stopping to run. Soon, the chase began again.

Sonic could have laughed or made some jokes, but he didn't, because the situation was too tense and serious, which required the hedgehog's attention if he wasn't going to be captured by the military.

Stupid hedgehog… You still don't know what awaits you next.… Still, I have no doubt that when you find out the truth, you will change your mind and return to your family... your real family... after which, we can take our revenge... in the meantime... run, Sonic… Run while you can..." he grinned. — And be ready for our new meeting ... brother... — he laughed ominously, and then with the words "Chaos Control!" he disappeared in a bright flash.

Данный фанфик писался до выхода третьего фильма по Сонику, поэтому эту историю можно считать его альтернативной вселенной...

— Отличная работа, ребята! Мы сделали это! — торжественно объявил синий ёж Соник своим друзьям и по совместительству, братьям, жёлтому двухвостому лисёнку и красному воину ехидне Наклзу, находясь рядом с грудой металлолома, которая всего-то несколько минут назад была грозной военной машиной организации ГАН.

— Интересно, что ещё нам ждать от этих солдат… — вздохнул Тейлз. — Надеюсь, что на сегодня-то больше не будет битв или сражений… — Соник взглянул на лисёнка. Он не мог винить малыша в его словах, поскольку они, все трое, прилично устали от боёв за сегодняшний день.

И ёж до сих пор не мог понять, отчего ГАН так взъярились на него и его друзей, ведь они ничего плохого не сделали. Да, га́новцы до сих пор не жаловали разношёрстную троицу, но те всё же не трогали до сегодняшнего дня ни его, ни его друзей и близких. Но тогда возникает вопрос: а почему они внезапно решили устроить охоту на них, в особенности на него, Соника?

Соник же жил вполне себе мирно в городке Грин Хиллз, ничего такого преступного не совершал. Конечно, сидеть без дела он не всегда мог, и потому мог пошалить. Но все его шалости были ведь вполне себе безобидными, чтобы вот так устраивать за это охоту. Неужто кто-то посчитал его веселье настоящим преступлением?

В любом случае, Сонику и остальным сейчас как можно скорее хотелось добраться до дома Ваковски, где они точно будут в безопасности.

— А я был бы, наоборот, не против ещё одной битвы! — внезапно откликнулся Наклз, разминая кулаки. — Если это всё, на что способны эти жалкие воины, то они нам не ровня.

— Наклз, молчал бы лучше, а то ещё накличешь беду, — упрекнул красного воина синий лидер.

— А что я такого сказал? — не понял ехидна. — Битвы — это смысл моей жизни! Да и… как это я накличу беду?

— Это не так уж и важно, — отмахнулся ёж. — Сейчас главный смысл у тебя должен быть — спасением нашей семьи от злых людей и сохранением наших шкур.

— Соник прав, Наклз, — вставил Тейлз. — Сейчас нам лучше поспешить, пока сюда не прибыли новые машины, которые могут оказаться гораздо сильнее предыдущих.

— Ха! Я не боюсь каких-то там железяк! — хвастливо заявил воин.

— Наклз, здесь нам нужно быть умнее, а не храбрее, сечёшь? — усталым и с раздражением в голосе высказал Соник.

— Эм… Да, я полагаю… — ответил ехидна.

— Чудно! А теперь пошли… Том с Мэдди волнуются поди за нас…

— Соник, Наклз, смотрите! — вдруг вскрикнул лисёнок, указывая старшим друзьям на откуда ни возьмись яркую вспышку света, появившуюся прямо на обломках боевой машины.

— Ох нет! Если это опять солдаты с вертолёта, то я к ним ни за что не вернусь!

— гневно прокричал Соник. — У них даже телевизора с интересными программами да чилидогами нет!

На последнюю фразу Тейлз и Наклз бросили недоумённые взгляды на синего ежа. Тот, поймав из взгляды, удивлённо спросил:

— Что? Так ведь оно и есть.

Но вот вспышка исчезла, и на месте оказался чей-то силуэт.

— Приветствую. Рад наконец-то встретить тебя, синий ёж, — заговорил незнакомец низким, но весьма приятным голосом.

— Кто? Что? — только и произнёс в ответ сам ёжик. Сам же он не испытывал доверия к незнакомцу.

— А если быть точнее… — меж тем продолжил неизвестный. — Ёжик Соник… Я прав, не так ли?

Тот вышел на свет, и трое друзей ахнули, когда увидели представителя своей расы, мобианцев. Но больше всех был шокирован сам Соник. Над ним возвысился, стоя в горделивой позе, чёрный с красными полосами ёж. — Ого! Ещё один ёж? — изумился Тейлз. — И причём… он немного похож на тебя, Соник…

Да, хоть у чёрно-алого ежа боковые иглы на голове были подняты кверху, в то время как у синего все иглы были опущены вниз, а ещё у чужака были красные, как и полосы на шкуре того, глаза и на груди находился белый пушистый пучок шерсти, а на ногах были надеты не кеды, а реактивные ботинки, всё же Соник у того уловил некоторые схожие черты с ним. Да и на подростка вполне себе тянет, коим также является и синий ёж. И если не обращать внимания на некоторые выделяющиеся детали внешности, то полосатый ёж мог вполне себе выглядеть как отражение синего героя, только разве что тёмное, либо же как его… тень.

— Давненько мы с тобой не виделись, Соник, верно? — всё также говорил с собратом незнакомец.

— Соник, ты его… знаешь?.. — неуверенно обратился к Сонику Тейлз. — Н-нет… Я… в первый раз его вижу… — только и произнёс он, а потом вдруг вскрикнул. Положив руку на лоб, он стиснул зубы, перед его глазами возникли какие-то нечёткие картинки: будто сначала он с кем-то играл и смеялся, потом пришли ужас и страх, а дальше — полная темнота. — Соник, ты в порядке? — заволновался за друга лисёнок.

— Да… Я в порядке… — прошептал Соник, справившись с внезапной головной болью.

— Ты уверен в этом, ёж? — также выразил беспокойство и Наклз.

— Да-да. Всё хорошо, ребята. Всё хорошо, — а после синий обратился к сородичу.

— Кто ты вообще такой, что знаешь меня?

— Неужели ты меня забыл, Соник? — притворно удивился полосатый. — Может, тебе помогут освежить память те гадкие людишки, что охотились за тобой?

Тут внезапно Соника осенило…

— Так это ты меня подставил, да? Из-за тебя нас преследует ГАН?

— Хм. Ну… можно и так, наверное, сказать… — хитро ухмыльнулся чёрный с красным ёжик.

— Так, значит, ты и есть тот самый преступник, которого разыскивают га́новцы! — рассердился Соник. — Тебя же и следует посадить в решётку! — он весь засветился голубым светом.

— Коли так считаешь… то попробуй, поймай меня, — насмешливо заявил полосатый.

Соник со злостью бросился навстречу чужаку.

— Соник, постой! — попытался остановить его Тейлз, но ёж его не послушал. Соник был слишком зол на того ежа, который по сути, подверг его и семью синего опасности! Он не мог допустить, чтобы злоумышленник так легко избежал заслуженного правосудия.

Ему заодно вспомнилось, как он оставил на родной планете свою первую семью, сову Длинный Коготь, что взяла его под своё крыло. Он просто не мог совершить ещё одну ошибку и потерять вторую семью, что обрёл на Земле…

Вот герой подпрыгнул, свернулся в клубок и понёсся в атаку на тёмного ежа. Наклз и Тейлз не могли поверить тому, что происходило у них на глазах: Соник ведь никогда не впадал в такую ярость, как сейчас, поэтому они не понимали, что могло так сильно разъярить их колючего друга и брата.

— Получай, Самозванец! — воскликнул Соник, продолжая нестись на сородича. А что касается самого чёрного ежа, то тот спокойно себе стоял, сохраняя хладнокровие. А потом он еле слышно произнёс:

— Хаос Контроль, — после чего он исчез.

И Соник просто пронёсся вперёд, пока не врезался в асфальт, оставив на месте приличную вмятину.

— Ох… Что случилось? Куда делся тот ёж? — мотая головой и приходя в себя, проговорил он.

— Соник! — вскоре к нему подбежали его названные братья.

— Не меня ли ищешь, синий ёж? — трое ребят обратили свой взор на одну из многоэтажек, где теперь стоял неизвестный.

— Неужто он так быстр? — поразился Соник. — Он даже быстрее меня? — Я… Я не думаю, что это была скорость, Соник… — засомневался лисёнок. А незнакомец спустя мгновение продолжил:

— Ха! Ничто не сравнится с силой самого Хаоса… А уж совладать ей может лишь только Совершенная Форма Жизни, кем я и являюсь…

— О да? Если ты не трус, но спустись вниз сразись со мной! — бросил вызов Совершенной Форме Жизни синий ёж.

— Ты зря меня недооцениваешь, маленький ежонок… — хихикнул тот. — Очень зря… — но всё же спустился вниз, на землю, хотя и не стал приближаться к героям.

— Давай! Сразись со мной один на один, если ты не боишься меня и моей силы!

— Соник приготовился к бегу. — Только смотри без фокусов!

— Соник, может, лучше не надо? — Тейлз боялся за лучшего друга, всё-таки они так мало знают о полосатом еже. Ведь неизвестно, на что тот способен.

— И мы одна команда, ёж, — также напомнил и Наклз.

— Ребята, я справлюсь, не переживайте. Я справлюсь, — уверено сообщил им Соник, ненадолго к ним обернувшись.

— Ну, раз ты так хвастаешься своей силой, «Самозванец», то тогда покажи мне её, — надменно сказал чёрно-алый.

— Ну тогда… Врубаем максималку! — и Соник понёсся по улице, вскоре его собрат погнался за ним.

— Давай пойдём за ними, Наклз, — затем предложил лисёнок ехидне. — Что-то мне подсказывает, что ничего хорошего из этого не выйдет…

— Я согласен с тобой, лис. Поспешим тогда за синим ежом, — Тейлз кивнул, и друзья отправились вслед за своим лидером.

А Соник меж тем всё пытался понять, что за сверхскоростной такой ёж, рядом с ним. И… отчего же тот выглядел для него вроде как знакомо, хотя и смутно? — Хех. Теперь мы одни, ёж. Покажи мне, на что ты способен без своих… «друзей», — съехидничал чёрный с красным ёжик.

— С удовольствием, Самозванец! — и Соник попытался ударить сородича ногой, но тот ловко увернулся, а после нанёс ответные удары синему кулаками, пока он не рухнул на землю. Но быстро оправившись, Соник вновь ринулся в бой. Однако противник легко отражал его атаки, было видно, что ежи равны друг другу по силе и не уступали друг другу.

— Ха! И это всё? — насмехался полосатый. — Я думал, что ты можешь и лучше.

— Тогда как тебе это?

Соник снова пошёл в атаку, но он, увы, промахнулся, поскольку другой ёж успел вовремя отскочить. И всё же синий не сдавался и продолжал наносить удары, пока одним из них не ударил таки хвастливого полосатого соплеменника. — Хмпф. Неплохо, — невольно похвалил тот героя, отчего наш синий даже чуть смутился. — Для новичка, — и чёрный, ударив прямо по лицу, отбросил Соника в сторону, что тот прогнул собой фонарный столб. — И всё же… я слегка разочарован тобой… Соник.

Соник, признаться, уже успел прилично выдохнуться. У него и так был непростой день из-за солдат, так дополнением ещё сейчас выступил незнакомый ёж, бегающий также быстро как и он, а также обладающий энергией самого Хаоса.

Поэтому он пока продолжал лежать на земле, переводя дух.

— Соник!!! — вскоре донеслись крики, и через пару минут рядом с колючим героем уже были его верные друзья.

— Соник, с тобой всё хорошо? Соник? — голос лисёнка дрожал от нескрываемого волнения и страха за старшего брата.

— Всё хорошо… ребята… Сейчас… встану… — пробормотал тот, попытавшись встать, но после неудачной попытки подняться на ноги он упал.

— Нет, ёж. Дальше уже мы будем драться, дабы защитить твою честь! — сообщил Наклз и загородил собой младших товарищей. — Слушай сюда, ёж!

Точнее, тёмный ёж! Оставь нашего брата в покое и дерись со мной!

— И со мной тоже! — вызвался и Тейлз, встав рядом с ехидной.

Полосатый ёж даже не смотрел в сторону верных товарищей своего соперника, как будто они были пустым местом для него. Он скучающе закатил глаза.

— Мне нет дела до вас двоих. Вы не достойны моего внимания.

— Ах так! — рассердился Наклз. — Ну тогда я заставлю тебя обратить на нас внимание, тёмный ёж! — и красный воин набросился на наглеца. Тот лишь украдкой глянул на него, а после внезапно испарился, так что и Наклз не смог добраться до чужака.

— Аргх! Ты бесчестен, тёмный ёж! Ты только навлекаешь на себя позор, прячась от меня и моего праведного гнева!

— Ты не мой соперник, красный, поэтому подостынь. Мы можем и в другой сразиться, а сейчас я пришёл за синим ежом, — друзья удивились, увидев чёрно-алого на верхушке фонаря.

— Ты не получишь Соника, кем бы ты ни был! — вступился за лучшего друга Тейлз. Он аж весь распушился в гневе.

— Да! И неужто ты боишься моих кулаков? — съязвил Наклз, ударив друг от друга кулаками, и от удара по ним пробежались мелкие красные молнии. — Вы двое, лишь пустая трата моего драгоценного времени, — спокойно ответил им ёж. — И я прибыл сюда только ради всемизвестного «Синего Правосудия». Однако я думал, что наш славный синий герой куда сильнее и способнее, чем то, каким я его сейчас вижу…

— Я… Ещё… Не… Закончил… Самозванец! — прокричал Соник, весь засветившись молниями. — И я покажу тебе, на что способны герои, когда их недооценивают и принижают! — синий ёж вновь кинулся на противника. Тот довольно ухмыльнулся.

— Вот этого я и ожидал увидеть от тебя, «Самозванец», — расплылся в улыбке его полосатый сородич, после чего также весь заискрился молниями, только разве что красного цвета, а затем, свернувшись клубком, понёсся в сторону героя.

Соник тоже свернулся искрящимся голубым шариком на лету, а потом оба ежа ударились друг о друга. Их отбросило в разные стороны, но то не помешало им вернуться к схватке.

С каждой атакой отдавало яркими сине-красными вспышками света.

Создавалось ощущение, будто кто-то устроил световое шоу.

Тейлзу и Наклзу пришлось даже отвернуться, прищурившись, чтоб не ослепнуть от такого зрелища.

Ну, а два колючих клубка продолжались ещё какое-то время кружиться и вертеться, попутно сталкиваясь друг с другом, пока одним мощным ударом они не налетели друг друга, не желая уступать сопернику в силе.

И после такого мощного удара по округе пронеслась огромная волна, из-за которой в домах и прочих зданиях выбило окна и даже вырубило электричество.

Тейлза и Наклза это также коснулось, и их двоих откинуло в сторону.

А два ежа после своего крупного столкновения друг с другом отскочили друг от друга. Каждый из них, тяжело дыша, успел прилично выдохнуться. — Очень впечатляет, синий ёж, — переводя дыхание, произнёс чёрный с красным ёж. — Ты действительно сумел показать мне свою силу.

Соник даже не нашёлся, что и ответить на похвалу. К тому же, он после слов противника ожидал подвоха, как и в прошлый раз.

— Однако тебе… — вскоре продолжил полосатый, — ещё многое предстоит познать… — он выпрямился. — Присоединяйся ко мне, Соник… И ты…познаешь истинную суть силы, заключённой в тебе…

Соник был в шоке от услышанного. Он обернулся к друзьям. Те приходили в себя от мощного взрыва, устроенного ежами. И затем, совладав с собой, синий ёж ответил собрату:

— Нет, ни за что! Я ни за что не стану помогать такому преступнику как ты! — Хмпф, — фыркнул тот. — Это немного печально слышать… Но я уверен, что со временем ты всё же передумаешь, особенно после беготни от тех солдатиков… — и словно в подтверждение его словам послышались громкие сирены полицейских и специальных военных машин, шумное стрекотание вертолётов, а также неподалёку появились световые круги от прожекторов. — А теперь прощай, Соник. Мы ещё встретимся. Вот увидишь, — загадочно улыбнулся полосатый ёж и, прежде чем уйти при помощи «Хаос Контроля», добавил на прощание. — И да… Я Шэдоу… Ёжик Шэдоу… — а потом он исчез.

— Синий ёж! Ни с места! Ты арестован! Руки за голову, стой на месте и не сопротивляйся! — послышалось потом из громкоговорителей.

— Соник, что мы будем делать? — крикнул другу лисёнок. Соник не сразу сообразил, что делать, ибо всё ещё не отошёл от только что произошедшего с ним.

— Ты и Наклз бегите отсюда, со всех ног! Вернитесь к Тому и Мэдди! А я де останусь здесь и отвлеку внимание ГАН на себя! — скомандовал синий ёж и уже приготовился к бегу, как друзья его окликнули:

— Но, Соник, мы не можем бросить тебя!

— Лис верно говорит, ёж! Мы соклановцы, одна семья, а потому вместе должны справиться с трудностями!

— Ребята, я ценю вашу помощь, честно! — обратился к ним Соник. — Но я знаю, что делать! К тому же, если что-то пойдёт не так, то вы с Томом и Мэдди сможете разработать новый план! А теперь уходите! Сейчас же!

— Но… Соник… — произнёс Тейлз, поскольку не желал оставлять лучшего друга один на один с га́новцами.

— Ты слышал его, лис. Пошли скорее, — поторопил его Наклз, и лисёнок, бросив печальный взгляд на ежа, взлетел на своих хвостах и направился прочь из города вместе с ехидной.

«По крайней мере, хотя бы они будут в безопасности…» — пронеслось в голове у Соника. Он посмотрел ребятам вслед с улыбкой на лице, а после побежал вперёд, навстречу солдатам.

Также во время бега перед его глазами вновь предстал тот самый полосатый ёж, представившийся Шэдоу.

Ха! Шэдоу… Неужто в самом деле того так зовут? Парня, который чем-то напоминал синего? Не может же быть такое, чтобы Шэдоу… оказался двойником Соника?.. Или, по крайней мере, подобием двойника?..

Но вот, что странно… Почему-то Сонику тот странный ёж… действительно показался знакомым… Но только… откуда он мог того знать?..

«Сейчас не время гоняться за видениями, Соник! Сосредоточься! Нужно увести солдат как можно дальше от Тейлза и Наклза, чтобы они не пострадали! Сосредоточься! Беги быстрее!» — рыкнув про себя, размышлял юный ёж, не останавливаясь бежать. Вскоре за ним вновь началась погоня.

Соник мог бы посмеяться или высказать какие-либо шуточки, однако он не стал этого делать, ибо ситуация была слишком накалённой и серьёзной, от которой требовалось внимание ежа, если тот не собирался быть схваченным военными.

Ну, а на вершине утёса, у края леса со стороны на погоню глядел Шэдоу. — Ха! Глупый ежонок… Ты ещё пока не знаешь, что ждёт тебя дальше… И всё же я не сомневаюсь, что когда ты узнаешь правду, то ты изменишь своё мнение и вернёшься в свою семью… Настоящую семью… После чего, мы сможем свершить свою месть… А пока что… беги, Соник… Беги, пока можешь… — он ухмыльнулся. — И будь к нашей новой встрече… брат… — он зловеще рассмеялся, а потом со словами «Хаос Контроль!» он исчез в яркой вспышке.

The Promise

This fanfiction was written before the release of the third Sonic movie, so this story can be considered his alternate universe...

— Soon the colony will come out of orbit and destroy this pathetic planet Earth, along with its damned people… Soon humanity will perish, and then… Then you will be avenged, Maria..." the black hedgehog with red stripes mused aloud, looking at the Earth through the porthole.

A moment later, the metal door opened, letting in a yellow two-tailed fox cub and a red echidna.

"If the coordinates are correct, then we will soon find the Chaos emeralds and the Master Emerald, and possibly Sonic along with them," Tails explained to Knuckles. Suddenly, they slowed down when they noticed a red-eyed hedgehog.

—Shadow! — The fox cub called out to him. The hedgehog turned in response.

"Who do I see? The fox and the echidna. The so—called blue hedgehog family," he quipped.

— Do you know where Sonic is?" We need to find him urgently! Otherwise, we won't be able to stop the fall of the ARK colony!

"I have no idea where that hedgehog is." And even if I did, I wouldn't tell you! Especially for such pitiful and insignificant creatures like you…

- No. I'm fine, Knuckles. Everything's fine..." Tails glanced at Shadow again, staring at nowhere and holding his hands behind his head. Knuckles got ready for a new round, but the fox cub took echidna by the hand.

—Wait, Knuckles. No need.

- Why? He attacked us.

"We don't have time for a fight right now. We have to hurry. We've spent enough time," he explained to his friend, and then they walked on together.

— MARIA-A-A-A!!! — a hedgehog's cry was heard as the capsule ejected.

Спустя мгновение металлическая дверь открылась, впуская в помещение жёлтого двухвостого лисёнка и красную ехидну.

— Если координаты верны, то скоро мы найдём изумруды хаоса и Мастер Изумруд, и, возможно, вместе с ними и Соника, — объяснял Тейлз Наклзу. Вдруг они притормозили, когда заметили красноглазого ежа.

— Шэдоу! — окликнул его лисёнок. Ёж в ответ повернулся.

— Кого я вижу? Лис и ехидна. Так называемая семейка синего ежа, — съязвил он.

— Ты знаешь, где Соник? Нам нужно срочно его найти! Иначе нам не остановить падение колонии АРК!

— Я без понятия, где тот ёж. А если бы и знал, то не сказал бы! Особенно таким жалким и ничтожным существам, как вы…

— Жалкие?! Ничтожные?! — вскрикнул Наклз, покрываясь от гнева красными молниями. — Сейчас я покажу тебе, на что такие жалкие и ничтожные могут!

— Наклз, нет! У нас нет времени на драки, — встав перед ехидной, Тейлз остановил друга, а после вновь обратился к чёрному с красным ежу. — Шэдоу, прошу, помоги. Нам без Соника не спасти мир от его гибели.

— Хмф. Не понимаю, почему вы беспокоитесь за него… В прочем, я также не понимаю, почему он выбрал вас, а не меня, как своего кровного брата.

— Брата?! — удивились Тейлз и Наклз.

— Да. Хотя всё это, наверное, теперь не важно. Уже в скором времени колония упадёт на планету, тем самым всё уничтожив.

— Нам нельзя этого допустить! Нужно предотвратить это, пока не стало поздно! Шэдоу, прошу, помоги нам остановить это!

— Зачем? Какой смысл спасать всех, если мы рано или поздно всё равно умрём? — спрашивал их ёж, а затем продолжил, постепенно повышая тон. — К тому же эти людишки заслужили смерть! Они лишили жизни моего близкого друга! Они убили Марию! А ведь она не сделала им ничего плохого! — крикнул он, и его алые глаза стали ярко-красными, а на шкуре появились красные молнии.

— Я знаю, что были плохие люди, которые сделали это с тобой… Однако не все люди плохие… Есть и хорошие. К тому же, большинство людей, живущих на планете, ни в чём не виновны. Эти люди не знают того, что случилось с тобой и Марией…

— Так пусть узнают! Пусть узнают о моей мести!

— Шэдоу, послушай… Раз Соник твой родной брат, то помоги ему… Помоги спасти человечество… Всё таки он — твоя семья…

— Не тебе судить, кто является моей семьёй, лисёныш… С чего тебе это говорить о ней?

— Потому что Соник наш друг и брат. Он тоже наша семья. А ради семьи можно пойти на что угодно… — объяснил Тейлз. — Ведь ради Марии ты бы что угодно сделал, верно?

И тут Шэдоу, оскалившись, не выдержал и набросился на лисёнка, схватив того за шею, и прижал того к стене.

— Не смей говорить мне: чего хотела Мария, а чего — нет… Ты не знал её… — зловеще прошипел ёж, искрясь красными молниями, а затем прокричал. — Я знал её лучше всех, как никто другой! И я точно знаю, чего бы она хотела!

— Шэдоу, наверняка, это не так… Я уверен, ты ошибаешься… — прохрипел двухвостый, не в силах выбраться из крепкой хватки полосатого ежа.

Внезапно хватка ослабла. Тейлз соскальзнул на пол и увидел, как Наклз загородил его собой, в то время как Шэдоу лежал чуть поодаль на полу.

— А ты не смей трогать лисёнка! Иначе тебе придётся иметь дело со мной! — крикнул ехидна, ударив кулаками друг о друга.

— Хочешь драки, значит? Ты её сейчас получишь… — поднявшись, прошипел ёж, а после кинулся на ехидну, тот поспешил ему на встречу.

— Хаос Контроль! — крикнул Шэдоу и, телепортировавшись, ударил Наклза сзади, что тот перекувыркнулся и упал.

Затем ёж взглянул на Тейлза своими ярко-красными глазами. Он неспеша двинулся к жёлтому лису. Тот под его взглядом боялся сдвинуться с места.

Шэдоу поднял правую руку, которой он собирался запустить свою силу в лисёнка. Тейлз, зажмурившись, обратился к нему:

— Шэдоу, мне жаль, что случилось с тобой и Марией, честно… Но из-за твоей ненависти не должны страдать невинные люди! Я знаю, что есть путь лучше, чем этот. В конце концов, ты можешь их спасти! Ещё не поздно всё исправить! Ты мог бы дать им всем шанс быть счастливыми!

Шэдоу вдруг замер, как услышал последние слова лисёнка. Взглянув на того, он будто увидел не дрожащего маленького лиса, а милую златовласую голубоглазую девочку, которую он всем сердцем любил.

— М… Мария?.. — прошептал он. — Нет… Нет… Это… Этого не может быть… Нет… — он, пошатываясь, отошёл от Тейлза. Тот был удивлён реакцией тёмного ежа, поскольку ждал от него удара.

— Тейлз, ты в порядке? — услышал лис крик Наклза, прибежавшего к тому. — Он не ранил тебя?

— Нет. Я в порядке, Наклз. Всё хорошо… — Тейлз снова бросил взгляд на Шэдоу, уставившегося в некуда и держащего руки за голову. Наклз приготовился для нового раунда, но лисёнок взял ехидну за руку.

— Стой, Наклз. Не надо.

— Почему? Ведь он напал на нас.

— У нас сейчас нет времени на драку. Нам надо спешить. Мы итак достаточно потратили времени, — пояснил он другу, и после они вместе пошли дальше.

Тем временем Шэдоу вспоминал тот самый момент, когда попрощался с Марией…

— Мария, выпусти меня отсюда! Ты же не знаешь, что делаешь! Я должен защищать тебя! — кричал Шэдоу, пытаясь выбраться из своего заточения. Девочка в это время нажимала на клавиатуре устройства, которое бы спустило вниз капсулу. Спустя мгновение она, улыбнувшись, обратилась к другу:

— Шэдоу, можешь, пожалуйста, пообещать мне кое-что?.. Я знаю, что солдаты скоро сюда придут, и они сделали много плохого, но… Не держи ненависть на всех людей, Шэдоу. В мире есть другие, очень хорошие люди. Я бы хотела, чтобы ты защищал таких людей и спасал их. В конце концов, им нужно дать шанс прожить счастливыми. Ты сделаешь это ради меня, Шэдоу?.. Ты обещаешь мне?..

— Мария… — только и произнёс ёж, глядя на свою подругу из капсулы.

Тут внезапно в помещение ворвался один из солдат.

— Ни с места! — прокричал он.

Мария, нахмурившись, приготовилась нажать на рычаг, с помощью которого она дала бы спастись Совершенной Форме Жизни.

— Не смей нажимать на рычаг! Ты слышишь меня? — прокричал солдат, нацеливаясь своим оружием на девочку. — Если нажмёшь на рычаг, мне придётся убить тебя!

Шэдоу, пинаясь и толкаясь, пытался выбраться из заточения. Но стекло капсулы было слишком крепким, чтоб его сломать. И ежу ничего не оставалось, как наблюдать за происходящим.

— Мария, нет! Не делай этого! — кричал Шэдоу. Мария, в последний раз улыбнувшись лучшему другу, со слезами на глазах нажала на рычаг:

— Прощай, ёж Шэдоу…

Потом раздался выстрел.

— МАРИЯ-Я-Я-Я!!! — донёсся крик ежа, когда капсула катапультировалась.

— Лучше предоставьте это мне, — неожиданно для всех донёсся голос Шэдоу. — Я сражусь с ним, а вы, трое, идите к изумрудам.

Тейлз и Наклз, были немного не уверены насчёт чёрного ежа, но Соник, кивнув ему, согласился.

— Хорошо. За мной, ребята!

Шэдоу, не теряя времени даром, атаковал техно-ящера, используя хаос копья. Чудище взревело и набросилось на ежа в ответ, тот успел увернуться.

«Я сдержу своё слово, Мария. Я спасу мир ради тебя. Даже если придётся отдать свою жизнь», — размышлял он, продолжая свою битву с Биолизардом.
