this last addition is SO SO BARS i’m in love. yes, exactly; gaon chooses and thrives with the kangs from the start because that’s a place where he can comfortably act on his own based on what he wants and what he envisions. he has so much free will that he makes use of in that house, he has the chance to take charge in a way that he’s very comfortable doing, and he has so much influence on those around him — in contrast to his other relationships, where it is largely just him being influenced and affected by the choices and desires of the other person (min jungho, soohyun).
it’s honestly hard to blame yohan for wanting that family gaon had built up with them to be gaon’s first priority, but by pushing with that ultimatum — instead of, say, just talking to gaon and letting him make that choice — he’s effectively shown to gaon that even here, he does not have the power or equal standing to simply choose whatever he wants and be respected for it, not in the way gaon respects the decisions of the others around him (with a little nagging towards yohan sometimes but ultimately comes back to acceptance, at least up until that scene). and in being triggered into this realization, he pushes back against yohan, lashes out, walks away.
soon afterwards, he chooses soohyun, who dies barely an episode later. his choice is wrested away from him again by something completely out of his control, and it’s no wonder that being manipulated into thinking that there is, indeed, someone to blame for it, and that that someone is yohan, prompts such fury in him that he does go and confront yohan — who, actually, seems to understand and empathize with that anger very well, based on how he initially reacts to gaon trying to stab him.
gaon needs to heal and grow from this place of disempowerment, where his choices are so guided by those around him. he’s frankly a pretty static character throughout the show, and i think it’s done deliberately — that the people around him and his circumstances don’t allow him to really change or grow in a way that’s meaningful to himself. it’s only set up in the very end that he is entering new circumstances which will allow him to explore and exercise his power and free will. (god. i want a season 2 so badly.)
simultaneously, though, yohan is the same in some sense. despite how unilaterally he works and how in control of everything and everyone he seems to be, yohan is a man that’s been driven by his desire for revenge for years — that’s the ultimate “making choices based around the influence of others.” he needs to learn, too, how to take on a life he genuinely wants for himself now. in the time gaon spent with the kangs, yohan clearly realized how much he valued that sort of peaceful, domestic life with his loved ones; but yohan can’t rely solely upon gaon to realize that dream for him. if he wants it, he needs to put in the work to heal and prioritize that, too.
it’s why their choice to walk away / stay away from each other in the last scene of ep 16 is so powerful, in my opinion. no matter how much they still have left unsaid between them, and how deeply they still clearly care for each other, they know that both of them need to grow and heal in their own ways, separately. they want the best for each other — if not yet themselves — and so they choose to leave each other to their personal growing. to them, just getting to see one another, and ascertain that they are safe and healthy, is enough for now.
Kim Gaon as a character is so important to me.
This poor boy, whose parents committed suicide when he was so young, ends up being manipulated by almost everyone in his life who think they know what's best for him.
His mentor, who he saw as a father ends up manipulating him to further his own agendas and goals all while giving him the illusion of choice. Ga On has never truly had a choice.
And Soohyun too. Yes, she only ever wanted to keep him safe, and that is a nice sentiment, but in acting the way she did towards him she caged him in.
Maybe it's the Gemini in me, but if someone tries to limit my freedom of choice or influence my judgement in any way, I start to get suffocated. No matter what the sentiment behind their actions are. She didn't deserve the end she got, and she genuinely cared about Gaon but at the same time she ended up trying to influence him because she thought she knew what was best for him.
And then comes Yohan. Yohan is complicated (as morally grey characters tend to be), because for a good while in the beginning, he too tries to use (or at least wants to use) Gaon for his own ends.
But also, after he sees who Gaon truly is: a kind and caring and a firecracker of a soul, he is the first in Gaon's life to offer him a choice. And not the Min Jungho type of choice where it's just an illusion; but an actual choice.
And Gaon. Gaon only ever tried to do what he thought was right even while being pulled in a thousand different directions by different people. He tried so hard to make the right choices. He finally found the family he lost when he was young in Yohan and Elijah and Ms Ji. Lord knows I wouldn't survive if I found out that the fucker who drove my parents to suicide was living alive and well somewhere else with nothing on his conscience, and that I had been lied to for so long. And then, Soohyun, the last person who he has left from his past tied to his parents, his best friend, dies.
And then he loses his found family as well.
Kim Gaon, at the end of the show has absolutely no one left from his past; the Kangs, Soohyun, his parents and Min Jung ho are all gone.
All he has left is himself and a herculean task of rebuilding the justice system.
And how miserable must that be?
If your memory of R&I has faded, congrats - please remember only the following times when Jane showed Maura she loved her instead of saying it.
There were too many times to count when it looked like Jane wasn’t listening to Maura, but as I liked to suspect all along, she usually really was.
There was a whole photoset’s worth of times when Jane could tell when something was wrong,
And of times she was there for Maura, even when Maura had forgotten to ask for help.
Sometimes, Maura would forget that she was a wonderful person, and Jane would pause whatever else was going on, look her in the eye, and remind her.
Most of Maura’s sorrows were about her family, and Jane spoke up for Maura to literally every one of her parents (and a bonus grandparent) when she didn’t like the way they were treating her.
Kind words were never Jane’s strong suit, but she found a few,
And emotional support smooches,
And plenty of hugs despite how they both claimed not to be big huggers.

YOU DON’T GET IT
Kirk and Spock will go to hell and back for each other no matter what. They sacrifice so much for each other because they are filled with love for each other. Kirk literally gave up his career, starship, and all else because the needs of Spock outweighed the needs of anyone else. The plan wasn’t to save him, IT WAS TO GIVE SPOCK A PROPER FUNERAL. and Spock was literally told that he couldn’t complete Kolinahr (the ritual to rid all of his emotions) because he was still LONGING and they told him to go and sort it out, SO HE WENT BACK TO KIRK.
BECAUSE FOR THEM, ALL ROADS LEAD TO EACH OTHER.
The foxes are maybe the most interesting iteration of the found family trope I've ever seen. They love each other. They hate each other. They spend half their time fighting. They literally hide behind each other when threatened. They call each other slurs. They're all gay and date each other. They're mentally ill and traumatised. They're so problematic it's ridiculous. Canonically three of them are murderers. They have a massive sleepover where they all snuggle together .Some of them have about two lines of dialogue together. What the fuck
Do you wanna see possibly the worst retelling ever?
You look at the goodreads summary and you think, "Well, that's sort of interesting."
But then you see the inside dust jacket.
And it only gets worse.
Is... is this author aware that Dracula DOES have Mina's POV? Like we know what Mina feels about it. We know Mina's perspective. She likes her husband, typewriters, and trains.
Feminist Dracula, y'all.
Super, super rough WIP. But I had to start making one of these.
no because the way he’s holding her so gently like he’s worried he might hurt her (because he saw what her body went through when sekhmet was in control) (possibly even afraid to let himself be selfish?) compared to the way Annette pulls him in so tight like she doesn’t want to ever let him go, possibly because she’s sick of losing the people she loves and the trip to the spirit world made her remember just how precious life is for them. Their stories are paralleled in the way they hold each other.. I hate this show.
The way they hold each other is everything 😍
The prince and his personal guard 💕
I’m supposed to be doing my homework right now! What am I doing? Not my homework. Anyways, listen up fam I have a new fic idea. Got it while I was staring at a beautiful photo of onigiri.
Picture this— Daichi and his four younger siblings, suddenly orphaned during his last year of high school, with his graduation just around the corner. Daichi, now his siblings’ legal guardian, has to drop moving out to go to university with Suga, has to put a hold on his own dreams, to take care of his siblings. He has to do all of this while navigating more grief than his siblings, since he had the most time with their parents— the rest of them didn’t have their parents around as often, Daichi was the “test child” and was more of a parent to the rest of his siblings anyway— and he has to be careful what feelings he show because the second oldest hasn’t started high school yet, and the youngest is six.
Enter Suga: he was expecting his best friend of three years to be going to university with him. They’d planned this for a while now, from which university they were going to attend to which dorm they were going to stay. He doesn’t expect the change. He’s also reasonably distraught at the death of a pair of parents that he loved. He lashes out at Daichi, and Daichi yells back, but in the end, they decide this—
Whatever they do, they do it together. It’ll have its hardships; Daichi’s parents literally just died. But Suga is there to help, and Daichi will never say no to him.
Ok hear me out.
Liam annoying Noel with constant text messages. Liam messaging him "Good morning x" and "Sleep well xxxx !!!!!" every single day. Liam sending Noel bad selfies. Liam messaging Noel "Love you longtime" three times in a row. Liam sending 12 minute long voice messages to Noel. Noel replying to all of these things with one of these:
1) ???
2) Ok
3) No.

My heart thanks you @signanothername bless you hooman 🙏🏼🧡
Hey so remember this comic Yeah here’s a continuation, me and @intotheelliwoods are on war as to how we can break each other’s hearts, and in turn break yours too :)
anyway some notes cause this is full of headcanons
1- i like to believe Leo completely lost his ability to use his powers and tap into his Ninpo after Raph and DonDon's death, due to the emotional strain he suffered (going by the theory mystic abilities are heavily connected to emotions) unlike Mikey, Leo doesn't know how to deal with his bad emotions, simply ignoring them, and it just resulted in him losing his powers after so much emotional strain (i literally rambled about this on insta a while back fghjklsdfgh)
2- i like to believe Mikey learned how to absorb emotions out of people if that makes sense, u see Mikey holding Leo's face during their entire talk, Mikey was using his powers to absorb Leo's bad emotions, so that Leo can feel better
that's what the blue energy in Mikey's hands are, Leo's pain and sadness, and that's why Leo seems to actually open up instead of deflecting the convo with a joke or two, cause Mikey's powers made it impossible to do so
doing that however leaves Mikey to feel that pain and sadness, and generally speaking Mikey never does it unless as a desperate last measure, as Mikey prefers that his family open up by themselves instead of the influence of his magic
3- you see Leo calling Mikey "Mike", i like to believe the brothers use certain nicknames in certain situations, in this case, Leo uses the nickname "Mike" as a "i'm really not in the mood, this is serious", its very rare for Leo to use "Mike" outta all nicknames for Mikey, and Mikey hates when Leo uses that particular nickname cause he knows it's bad when Leo uses it, hence, why he resorts to absorbing Leo's bad emotions
4-ok so you see by the end that Leo gets to hug Raph one last time, this is Mikey's doing, Mikey's sharing his own Ninpo with Leo so his big bro gets to say goodbye to their eldest brother
moral of the story? Mikey's cool as fuck
Happy 4 months to them , they love each others in every universe 🫶❤️🤍💙
