Hey guys! SO here’s chapter 4! At first, when I was making this story, I didn’t want a backstory. But, After some thinking, I decided to do it. Anyway, enough rambling. Let’s get started.
Fresh, Geno, and Error belong to @loverofpiggies
MommaCQ and herself belong to @alainaprana
Other characters and story belong to me, @leiselpizzatale
Alaina was frightened. She’s never seen Fresh act like that, ever! Looking at her mother, she saw that her mom was frightened too. She gave a ‘I’ll handle it’ nod to her, before heading to Fresh’s room.
She was about to knock when she heard sobbing from the other side. She pressed her head on the door, hearing Fresh saying, “I’m sorry Geno, I’m sorry.” Alaina remembered that it was the same thing he said when he woke up from his nightmare.
She turned the doorknob, finding the door unlocked, before coming in. Fresh gave a gasp, before seeing Alaina. Embarrassed, he put his head in between his legs. Alaina chuckled, before she sat next to him.
“You know, “Alaina started, “A little bird told me that you had a nightmare last night. It also told me that you didn’t tell me or my parents what that nightmare was about. Think you can help me with my problem?”
Fresh chuckled, taking his head out of legs. He smiled at Alaina, before looking down, frowning. “You really want to know?” Alaina just gave a small smile.
Fresh sighed, before saying, “Well, in the nightmare, I was back at mah house. I was watchin’ TV, when Geno told me dat he needed more pills. I forgot which ones I got, but I guess it was his super pain-killers. Anyway, I went and got da pills, and a glass of water. I was gonna give it ta him, but…” Fresh fell silent.
“But, what?” Alaina asked.
“I saw him as an adult, but different. He had an injury that ran across his ribs,“ Fresh said, running his finger across his ribs to give Alaina a visual, “and it was bleeding. He also had blood that was dribbling down his teeth. He also had a baritone voice; one dat was even lower than your dad’s. He asked me why I hurt him. But I couldn’t respond; I was just too scared. Then he said dat he was going to, ‘return the favor’, before he got out this giant demon skull, and it shot out this beam o’ light, before I woke up,”
Fresh looked down, not wanting to see Alaina’s reaction. He didn’t know why, but he felt that he should be judged. Maybe because Fresh had hit his brother, then ran away without anyone from his family knowing where he went.
Alaina was shocked. She has never seen Fresh this scared, not since when he first came to her doorstep…

*ding-dong*
“Alaina dear, Can you get that? My hands are dirty,” Alaina’s mother said.
“Yes mom!” Alaina said, before opening the door. She looked around, not seeing anyone. She looked down, thinking there was a gift or something, but she saw something she would never expect.
On the ground was a skeleton, wearing a thin black t-shirt, a jacket, baggy shorts, a fanny pack, and neon shoes. On their back was a book bag that looked way too big on them. They were shivering, with purple on their face.
“Mom! There’s a skeleton at the door!” Alaina said.
Alaina’s mother walked to the door, a washcloth in her hands. “What do you mean Al- Oh my gosh!”
Alaina’s mom rushed to the skeleton. Bending down, she placed her hand on the skeleton’s head. It was too warm.
“Alaina, get you father, quickly!” Alaina nodded, before she ran to her dad’s study.
“Dad, mom needs you! There’s a skeleton at the door, and she needs your help.” Alaina said. Alaina’s dad quickly walked downstairs. Alaina walked behind him.
“Honey, can you carry him to the guest room. I’ll hold his stuff. Alaina, please follow your dad and open the door please?”
“Yes mom.” Alaina said. With a grunt, Alaina’s dad picked up the skeleton, before heading up to the guest room. Alaina opened the door, before going inside, her dad following her.
Alaina’s dad then put the skeleton in the bed, before tucking them in. The skeleton shivered, mumbling things that Alaina couldn’t hear.
Alaina’s mom then went in with a washcloth and a bucket of water.
“How are they?” She asked.
“Not good, “ Alaina’s dad said, “By the looks of it, he has a high fever, he’s shivering a lot, and I don’t know if-“ Alaina’s dad was cut off by the skeleton, who had turned to the edge of the bed, before puking up a purple mess. Alaina shrieked, backing away from the bed quickly. Her parents did the same.
After emptying their stomach (if they had one), the skeleton turned to the family, saying, “‘m sorry for dat.” They also had some tears in their eyesockets.
Quickly, Alaina’s mom said, “Don’t worry! It couldn’t be helped! Besides, I needed to clean this room anyway, since someone,” Alaina’s mom looked at Alaina, a glare in her eyes, “likes to jump on the bed while eating cookies.” Alaina gave a nervous giggle, knowing it was true.
“What’s your name?” Alaina quickly asks.
The skeleton kept looking between their hands, which were rubbing together, and the family. After a while, the skeleton looked at the family, saying,
“Mah name is Fresh.”

Since then, Alaina’s life has gotten more interesting. And now, she was going to be married to him. But, he was right about what he said last night. And he was also wrong. She knew a lot about him. More than he did. Not just about his favorite stuff, but about who he was as a person. And now, she knew everything.
Smiling softly, she placed her hand on Fresh’s hand, who stiffened before peeking through his legs. ‘I bet he thinks I’m going to judge him’ Alaina thought.
“I bet he’s dead by now. An’ even if he isn’t, he probably hates me,” Fresh mumbled.
Alaina slapped him.
Fresh held where she slapped him, shocked. “Why the heckdid you do that?!” he growled.
“Because you’re being unreasonable!” Alaina told Fresh, “You told me and my parents all about Geno. And even though I never met him, I know that he wouldn’t hate you, because you said, quote on quote, ‘he had such a big heart to anyone and everyone’.” Alaina then looked down. “I’m sorry for what mom said to you. She just wants you to see your family again.”
“It’s Aiight,” Fresh said. “I’m sorry for overreacting. Let’s go back to your parents.”

After a few apologies, calls, and planning, Fresh and Alaina were going to head to New Mexico tomorrow. They were going to leave in the morning, and were going to go sleep in a hotel half-way through. Then they would drive the rest of the way.
Fresh was lying on his bed. He couldn’t sleep. He was thinking too much about his family. Would they hate him, or would they welcome back in with open arms? He chuckled. If Error was anything like he was before he left, he wouldn’t do that. Would CQ still be alive? Would Geno still be alive?
*knock-knock*
“Come in.” Fresh said.
Alaina walked in. “Couldn’t sleep?” Fresh shook his head. “Me neither.” Fresh was shocked. Why couldn’t she sleep? He thought.
“Why not?” Fresh asked.
“I’m nervous. I mean, what is your family going to think?!” Alaina started panicking, “Would you mom like me? Would your brothers like me?! Would they be racist or something, saying that I can’t marry you because I’m human or something?! Or-“ Fresh held her hands, rubbing his thumb across her hand.
“They wouldn’t do dat. I know dat both ma and Geno would love you when they meet you. And after a bit, Error would love you too. So don’tcha worry”
Alaina smiled a bit, saying, “And they would do the same thing to you, so don’t you worry.”
Fresh smiled, before pulling in Alaina in a loving kiss. Pulling back, he said, “Let’s get to bed. We got a half a country to drive through.”
After Alaina left, Fresh closed his eyes, feeling tired. ‘Everything will be alright’ Fresh though, before falling asleep.
