Here are some of my favorite horror films to watch during the spooky season!

Há dois dias finalizei minha releitura de "Doutor Sono", depois de ter fechado 2022 relendo "O Iluminado".

É um pouco estranho e me sinto solitária na opinião de que essa continuação é muito melhor do que a obra que a originou. AMO "O Iluminado", mas em minha mais recente experiência com o livro reforçou-se o sentimento de que há uma carência ali que não está em "Doutor Sono" - um livro que, para mim - é fechado e completo beirando a perfeição.

Gostar dos personagens na obra original é um esforço contínuo que, em alguns momentos no decorrer da história, não parece oferecer qualquer recompensa. Em "Doutor Sono" a ligação entre o leitor e, principalmente, Dan Torrance é íntima, dolorosa, familiar. Sou grata ao King por me proporcionar experiências como as de Doutor Sono, Billy Summers, A Zona Morta, Joyland e muitos outros. Sempre serei. Sempre estarei pronta e exultante para mais uma dessas experiências.

Which Ewan character should I make a headcanon alphabet for next? I want to write and I'm not feeling inspired.

🎃 Halloween Idea 🎃

So, today marks exactly three months until Halloween! I have an idea that I want to share with y'all and need help fleshing it out. What if we had a Ewan Halloween celebration? Halloween falls on a Thursday this year and there will be five Thursdays in October. I'm thinking about hosting an online movie night each Thursday leading up to Halloween where we watch a scary Ewan movie! We can call it Ewanween, or HallowEwan, or just Halloween: Ewan Edition (I clearly need help with a name 😅). I can set up a discord for us to watch together at a chosen time. Maybe on Halloween day we can do a double feature or something! I'm open to ideas! I was also thinking of maybe incorporating spooky/scary fanart and fanfic. For example, if for the 2nd Thursday we watch Shallow Grave then on that day we can share our creations that have to do with the movie/characters. What do you think? I've never done something like that before so it might be outside my abilities to put that together. Plus, I know there are other, more established, fan events that happen throughout October. It's just a thought! Now, as for the movies, we need five. I made a list of seven Ewan movies that I felt fit the Halloween vibe. If this idea garners interest, then I'll make a poll for us to narrow down the choices. Please let me know your thoughts and share with anyone you think will be interested!

To this Rose gave the same answer Dick Hallorann had once given young Danny Torrance, and in the same cold tone of voice: “Do you care?” Andi decided she didn’t.

I just want to say that there are so many tragic things about Dan Torrance in Doctor Sleep. But the one that really stands out to me is that his "inner library" is The Overlook.

Rose the Hat has a beautiful and extravagant mansion; it's as old, gorgeous, and well maintained as she is. Abra has her room, the only place that she really possesses and has control over at her age; the ceiling filled with stars and the promise of expansion as she grows up.

And then there's Dan's library, his mind is shaped like The Overlook, every thought, memory, and experience is stored in a place that he fears, hates, and cannot forget. Specifically, in the room where his dad would work. Possibly a room he liked before 'the incident'. But now the typewriter is eternally waiting and no one is coming back to it.

The hotel traumatized him so completely that everything he knows, every experience he's had in his life from before, during, and after the events of The Shining are stored neatly away in its terrifying halls. Every good memory must be revisited inside that sprawling, predatory, beast of a place.

His version is tamed, sure, but even without blood flowing out of an elevator or the twins at the end of the hallway, every time he turned a corner, surely he'd remember that at one point they were there.

Dan's mind is not a palace, formed in reverence for the things he knows and the years he's lived. Nor is it his safe space, that he can customize and manipulate to his liking, filled with possibilities. His mind is decorated with trauma and terror. And it frames his thoughts and all of his future experiences.

His mind is his personal hell, or was until he tames it, sobers up, and turns it into a place that he can walk through every day. Telling himself that he has changed it and made it different. That as long as he maintains control, he's safe walking the halls.

What a tragic glimpse into his life.
